Explanation of the Verse:
This noble verse paints a breathtaking scene from the unseen world, inviting us to reflect on the majesty of our Creator and the profound mercy that surrounds His throne. Allah tells us that the angels who carry His mighty Throne, and those who stand around it in His sacred presence, are not distracted by their awe-inspiring surroundings. Instead, they are engaged in the purest acts of worship: they glorify their Lord with praise, declaring Him free from every imperfection while acknowledging His infinite greatness. They believe in Him with complete and unwavering faith, knowing that He alone is worthy of worship, with no partner or equal.
Yet, what is most touching about these magnificent beings is their deep concern for the believers on earth. Despite their exalted status, they do not forget those who struggle with faith and obedience. They raise their hands in supplication, saying: *"Our Lord, You encompass all things in mercy and knowledge."* They acknowledge that Allah’s mercy and knowledge have no limits—they cover everything in existence. Then, they make a heartfelt plea: *"So forgive those who have repented and followed Your path, and protect them from the punishment of the Blazing Fire."*
This verse teaches us several profound lessons. First, it shows us the immense value of sincere repentance. When a person turns back to Allah, abandons sin, and follows the straight path of Islam, even the angels intercede on their behalf. Second, it reveals the boundless mercy of Allah—a mercy so vast that it encompasses all things, and His knowledge so complete that nothing escapes Him. Third, it reminds us that the angels, the most honored of Allah’s creations, are humble before Him and constantly seek His forgiveness for the believers, which should inspire us to strive for righteousness so that we may be included in their prayers.
As believers, let this verse fill our hearts with hope and longing. If the angels who carry the Throne of the Most Merciful are praying for the forgiveness of those who repent and follow Allah’s way, then how can we ever despair of Allah’s mercy? Let us hasten to repentance, cling to the path of guidance, and ask Allah to protect us from the Fire, just as the angels ask on our behalf. Indeed, Allah is the Most Merciful, the Most Forgiving, and He loves those who turn back to Him.
