Explanation of the Verse:
This is the continuation of the beautiful supplication that the angels — those who carry the Throne and those around it — make on behalf of the believing servants of Allah. After praising Allah for His mercy, forgiveness, and protection from punishment, they now ask for the ultimate gift: entry into the Gardens of ʿAdn, the eternal paradise that Allah had promised to His righteous servants.
The angels say: *"Our Lord, admit them into the Gardens of ʿAdn which You have promised them."* This is a request for the fulfillment of Allah's promise — a promise that is certain, for Allah never breaks His word. The angels are not merely asking for the believers to enter Paradise; they are asking for them to enter the highest and most sublime of its levels, the Gardens of ʿAdn, where they will dwell forever in perfect joy and peace.
Then the angels add a profoundly touching request: *"And those who were righteous among their fathers, their spouses, and their offspring."* This shows the immense mercy and love that Allah has instilled in His creation — even the angels long for the believers to be reunited with their loved ones in Paradise. The believers' joy is not complete unless they can share it with those they love. So the angels ask Allah to gather the righteous family members together in the same abode of honor, so that their happiness may be multiplied and their hearts fully content.
This also carries a beautiful lesson: the righteousness of a person can be a means of elevation for their family. When a person is sincere in faith and good in deeds, Allah may raise their righteous relatives to join them in Paradise, as a complete blessing and a completion of their joy.
The supplication concludes with the most fitting names of Allah: *"Indeed, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise."* The angels acknowledge that Allah has complete power to do whatever He wills — nothing is difficult for Him, not even admitting all of these believers and their families into Paradise. And He is All-Wise in His actions, placing everything in its proper place, granting His mercy to whom He wills and honoring those who deserve it.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear believer, see how the angels themselves intercede for the righteous and pray for their families to join them in Paradise! This should fill your heart with hope and longing. Strive to be among those whom the angels pray for — those who believe, repent, and follow the straight path. And know that your righteousness can be a means of salvation for your parents, your spouse, and your children. What a beautiful incentive to remain steadfast upon the truth!
Let this verse inspire you to make duʿā for your loved ones, just as the angels do. Ask Allah to gather you and your family in the Gardens of ʿAdn, where there is no sorrow, no separation, and no end to bliss. And remember: the One you are asking is al-ʿAzīz — nothing is impossible for Him — and al-Ḥakīm — He knows exactly what is best for you. So place your trust in Him, hold firm to His rope, and never lose hope in His mercy. Paradise is real, its doors are open, and the invitation has been sent to you. Will you answer it?
