Word Meanings:

  • Qudiyat al-Salah: The prayer has been completed and concluded.
  • Fanshiru: Disperse and spread out.
  • Fadl Allah: The bounty and provision of Allah, which includes both worldly sustenance and beneficial knowledge.
  • Tuflihu: To attain success and prosperity in both this life and the Hereafter.

Explanation of the Verse:

When the Friday prayer has been completed and concluded, Allah grants you permission to disperse throughout the earth and resume your worldly affairs. This is not merely a permission but an encouragement to seek His bounty through lawful means—whether through trade, work, or the pursuit of beneficial knowledge. The verse beautifully balances the spiritual and the worldly: just as you were commanded to gather for the prayer, you are now commanded to spread out for your livelihood, knowing that your provision comes from Allah alone.

However, the verse carries a profound reminder: even as you engage in your worldly pursuits, you must remember Allah abundantly—in your hearts, on your tongues, and through your actions. Your pursuit of sustenance should never make you forget your Lord. This constant remembrance is the thread that weaves your worldly activities into acts of worship, transforming your daily work into a means of drawing closer to Allah.

The verse concludes with the ultimate goal: "that you may succeed." This success (falah) encompasses both the good of this world—provision, peace, and contentment—and the good of the Hereafter—eternal bliss in Paradise. It is a success that combines the best of both realms, achieved by those who balance their religious duties with their worldly responsibilities, all while keeping Allah at the center of their hearts.

A Call to Action:

Dear believer, this verse teaches us that Islam is not a religion of isolation or neglect of worldly life. Rather, it is a complete way of life that harmonizes worship with work, and devotion with diligence. After the Friday prayer, go out into the world with confidence, knowing that Allah has not abandoned you—He has opened the doors of His mercy and bounty for you. But let your heart remain attached to Him in every transaction, every meeting, and every step you take. This is the path to true success—a life where every moment is an opportunity to earn both your daily bread and your eternal reward. So strive, work, and remember—for in the remembrance of Allah, hearts find true peace and success.

📜 Verse 8-11 — Al-Jumu'ah

Say, "Indeed, the death from which you flee - indeed, it will meet you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you about what you used to do."
O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.
And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allah, and remember Allah often that you may succeed.
But when they saw a transaction or a diversion, [O Muhammad], they rushed to it and left you standing. Say, "What is with Allah is better than diversion and than a transaction, and Allah is the best of providers."
