Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- الصَّمَد (As-Samad): The Master who is perfect in His attributes, to Whom all creatures turn in times of need and for the fulfillment of their desires. He is the One upon Whom everything depends, while He depends on nothing.
Explanation of the Verse:
"Allah is As-Samad" — He is the Supreme Master, the Eternal Refuge, and the Final Resort for all creation. He is the One to Whom every being turns in times of hardship, need, and supplication. His sovereignty is absolute, and His perfection encompasses all attributes of beauty and majesty. All creatures, whether in the heavens or on the earth, are in complete need of Him, while He is entirely free of any need for them. He alone possesses the power to grant what is sought, to remove what is feared, and to fulfill what is desired — and none can do this except Him.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
O beloved reader, ponder the beauty of this single name of Allah — As-Samad. It tells you that no matter how great your worries, how heavy your burdens, or how desperate your situation, there is always One to Whom you can turn. He is never too busy, never distracted, never incapable. He hears every whisper, knows every hidden need, and answers every sincere call. When you raise your hands in supplication, you are not calling upon a distant, indifferent force — you are calling upon the Master of all affairs, the One who holds the keys to everything. So let your heart find rest in Him, trust in Him, and turn to Him in all matters, for He is the Eternal Refuge who never disappoints those who seek Him.
