Tafsir (Explanation):
O Messenger of Allah, you will never find a people who truly believe in Allah and the Last Day — with sincere faith that shapes their hearts and actions — showing love and loyalty to those who oppose Allah and His Messenger. This is because true faith and the love of Allah's enemies cannot coexist in one heart; they are as incompatible as light and darkness. Even if those opponents are their own fathers, sons, brothers, or the closest members of their clan, the bond of faith takes precedence over every other bond. The believer's love is for Allah and His Messenger, and his loyalty is given only to the allies of Allah, regardless of how close or dear the worldly ties may be.
As for those who place their faith above all else and sever their loyalty to Allah's enemies — even at the cost of their most precious family ties — Allah has written faith firmly in their hearts. He has made it a settled and unshakable reality within them, and He has strengthened them with a spirit of light, guidance, and divine support that empowers them to remain steadfast in the face of trials and temptations. In the Hereafter, He will admit them into Gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will abide forever in endless bliss that never fades and never ends. Allah is pleased with them because of their obedience and sincerity, and they are pleased with Him because of His immense generosity, His noble rewards, and the ultimate honor of beholding His Noble Face. These are the Party of Allah — His true soldiers and loyal supporters who carry out His commands and abstain from His prohibitions. Indeed, the Party of Allah — and only they — are the truly successful ones, attaining every good in this life and the next, and being saved from every evil.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse is a profound call to purify our hearts and examine the foundations of our love and loyalty. It teaches us that faith is not merely a word on the tongue, but a living reality that governs our deepest affections and choices. The believer who truly knows Allah and longs for the Last Day will never let family ties, tribal bonds, or worldly interests override the command of Allah. This is the standard of honor that Allah has set for His servants — a standard that elevates them above all other loyalties and grants them the highest rank in both worlds.
Dear reader, reflect on the immense reward promised here: Allah Himself writes faith in your heart, supports you with His divine aid, grants you eternal Gardens, and — the greatest of all — bestows upon you His pleasure and contentment. What could be more precious than a heart filled with faith, a life supported by Allah, and an eternity of His pleasure? This is the true success that every soul yearns for. So let your love be for Allah, your loyalty be for His cause, and your ultimate hope be for His eternal reward. Strive to be among the Party of Allah, for indeed, the Party of Allah are the successful ones — in this life and the next.
