Key Words and Their Meanings:
- Kataba (كَتَبَ): Ordained, decreed, or prescribed — indicating a divine decree that is firmly established and recorded.
- La-aghlibanna (لَأَغْلِبَنَّ): I will surely prevail or triumph — a solemn oath emphasizing the certainty of victory.
- Rusuli (رُسُلِي): My messengers — referring to all the prophets and messengers sent by Allah throughout history.
- Qawiyy (قَوِيٌّ): The All-Powerful — the One whose strength knows no limits and who is capable of all things.
- Aziz (عَزِيزٌ): The Almighty, the Mighty — the One who is invincible, exalted in honor, and prevails over all.
Explanation of the Verse:
Allah, the Most High, has decreed in His eternal knowledge and recorded in the Preserved Tablet (al-Lawh al-Mahfuz) a decisive and unchangeable promise: that He, along with His messengers and His believing servants, will certainly prevail and triumph over all who oppose them. This is not merely a hope or a wish — it is a divine guarantee, firmly established by the will of the Almighty.
The victory promised here is twofold: victory by clear proof and evidence (al-hujjah) and victory by strength and power (al-quwwah). The messengers of Allah were sent with undeniable signs and rational arguments that silenced their opponents, and when necessary, Allah supported them with tangible victories over their enemies. This same promise extends to the followers of the messengers — the believers who uphold the truth — for they are the inheritors of this divine assurance.
The verse concludes with a profound reason for this certainty: "Indeed, Allah is All-Powerful, Almighty." He is Qawiyy — His strength is absolute, nothing can escape His grasp, and no force can resist His will. He is Aziz — He prevails over everything, His decree is never thwarted, and His honor is unmatched. Therefore, the victory of His cause is inevitable, for it rests not on human capability but on the infinite power of the Creator Himself.
A Call to Faith and Reflection:
Dear believer, let this verse fill your heart with unshakable confidence. When you stand for truth, when you uphold justice, when you follow the path of the messengers — know that you are on the side of the One who has already written the outcome. The trials you face are temporary, but the promise of Allah is eternal. No matter how powerful the enemies of truth may appear, their strength is nothing compared to the might of the One who created them.
This is a source of immense comfort and motivation: victory is not a matter of "if" but of "when." Allah's decree has already been recorded, and His word never fails. So hold firm to your faith, strive with sincerity, and trust in the promise of your Lord. For indeed, Allah is Qawiyy and Aziz — and His promise to grant victory to His messengers and their followers is as certain as the rising of the sun.
Let this verse also serve as a reminder that true strength lies not in numbers or resources, but in the support of the Almighty. Those who align themselves with Allah's cause will find that the universe itself conspires in their favor, for the Creator of the universe has pledged His support to them. What a beautiful promise — and what a blessed path to be upon!
