Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- يُلْحِدُونَ (yulhidūn): Those who deviate, turn away, or distort—specifically, those who swerve from the truth and engage in denial, mockery, or corruption of Allah’s signs.
- لَا يَخْفَوْنَ عَلَيْنَا (lā yakhfawna ʿalaynā): They are not hidden from Us; nothing about them or their deeds escapes Allah’s knowledge.
- يُلْقَىٰ (yulqā): To be cast or thrown—here, into the Fire.
- آمِنًا (āminan): Secure and safe—free from fear and punishment on the Day of Judgment.
Tafsir (Explanation):
Allah, the All-Knowing and All-Seeing, declares that those who deviate from the truth and distort His revelations—denying them, mocking them, or twisting their meanings—are never hidden from Him. Their plots, their words, and their secret intentions are all fully known to their Lord, and they will certainly face the consequences of their actions. Nothing escapes His watch, whether in the heavens or on the earth.
Then Allah poses a striking rhetorical question to awaken the conscience: Is the one who is cast headlong into the Fire—due to their disbelief and corruption—better, or the one who comes on the Day of Judgment secure and safe, having believed in Allah and His signs, and thus deserving of His eternal reward? The answer is self-evident: the secure believer is infinitely better. This comparison is meant to shake the hearts of those who are heedless and to make them reflect on the ultimate outcome of their choices.
Finally, Allah addresses the deviators with a stern yet powerful challenge: "Do whatever you wish!" This is not a permission to sin, but a threat and a warning—a declaration that they have been given free will, and their deeds are fully visible to Allah. He sees every action, whether good or evil, and He will recompense each person with perfect justice. This verse serves as both a comfort to the believers, who are promised safety and honor, and a dire warning to the disbelievers, who are reminded that their rebellion is not hidden from their Creator.
Daʿwah Reflection:
This verse is a profound call to self-accountability. It reminds us that no matter how hidden our actions may seem to people, Allah sees all and knows all. For the believer, this is a source of great hope—knowing that their faith and good deeds are never wasted, and that they will be among the secure on the Day of Judgment. For those who have strayed, it is an open door of reflection: the choice is yours, but the outcome is certain. Embrace the truth of Allah’s signs, and you will find safety and peace in this life and the next. Let this verse inspire you to align your actions with what pleases Allah, for He is ever watchful and His mercy is vast for those who turn back to Him.
