Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Khāshi‘ah (خَاشِعَةً): Dry, barren, and lifeless — devoid of vegetation.
- Ihtazzat (اهْتَزَّتْ): It stirred and quivered — signifying the movement of the soil as seeds beneath it begin to sprout.
- Rabat (رَبَتْ): It swelled and rose — as the earth lifts and expands with the growth of plants pushing through it.
Tafsir (Explanation):
Among the profound signs of Allah’s absolute oneness and His boundless power is a scene you witness with your own eyes: the earth lying still, dry, and lifeless — cracked and barren, with no sign of green. Then, when We send down water upon it, it begins to tremble with life. The soil stirs, swells, and rises as vegetation bursts forth from beneath its surface, transforming a dead land into a vibrant, thriving expanse.
The One who revives that lifeless earth after its dryness — bringing forth life from apparent death — is certainly able to revive the dead from their graves. He who causes seeds to split open and sprouts to emerge from the darkness of the soil is the same Lord who will raise all of humanity for the Day of Reckoning. Indeed, His power encompasses everything — nothing is too great or too small for Him. Just as He brings life to a barren land with a single shower of rain, He will bring life to the bones of the dead with a single command: "Be."
This verse invites you to reflect deeply: the very ground you walk upon is a living witness to the reality of resurrection. Every spring that follows a dry season is a promise fulfilled — a promise that death is not the end, but a transition to a new beginning. So let your heart find comfort in this truth: the same Allah who revives the earth after its death will revive you, and His power over all things leaves no room for doubt. Let this sight strengthen your faith, soften your heart, and draw you closer to the One who holds the keys to life and death — for He is over all things, fully capable.
