Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • Rūḥ (روحًا): Here, it refers to the Qur'an, which is described as a "spirit" because just as the body is revived by the soul, hearts and souls are revived by the Qur'an's guidance.
  • Min Amrinā (من أمرنا): From Our command — meaning, by Our will and decree, sent down from Our divine authority.
  • Tadrī (تدري): You knew or were aware of.
  • Al-Kitāb (الكتاب): The Book — i.e., the Qur'an and the divine scriptures.
  • Al-Īmān (الإيمان): Faith — its realities, obligations, and branches.
  • Nūr (نورًا): Light — a metaphor for the illuminating guidance of the Qur'an that clears the darkness of ignorance.
  • Ṣirāṭ Mustaqīm (صراط مستقيم): A straight path — the upright religion of Islam, free from deviation.

Explanation of the Verse:

Just as We sent revelation to the prophets before you, O Muhammad, We have sent to you a divine revelation — the Qur'an — from Our own command. This Qur'an is a "spirit" because it breathes life into hearts that were dead in ignorance, and it revives souls with the light of truth. Before this revelation came to you, you had no knowledge of what the Book was, nor did you know the realities of faith — its obligations, its branches, or its fruits. You were not a reader of previous scriptures, nor a scholar of divine laws. Yet, out of His immense mercy, Allah made this Qur'an a radiant light, by which He guides whom He wills from among His servants — those who open their hearts to its call and seek His pleasure. Through this light, they are led out of the darkness of disbelief and error into the clarity of faith and righteousness.

And you, O Messenger, are indeed guiding people to a straight path — the path of Islam. This is the path that leads to Allah, the One to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. To Him alone all affairs return, and He will judge every soul according to its deeds: good for good, and evil for evil.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, pause and reflect on the greatness of this divine gift. The Qur'an is not merely a book — it is a living light that revives the heart, just as rain revives a barren land. It was sent to a man who had never learned to read or write, who had no prior knowledge of scriptures, and yet it transformed him into the greatest teacher of humanity. This is proof that the Qur'an is from Allah, not from human invention.

If you feel your heart is heavy, your soul is restless, or your life is clouded with confusion, know that the Qur'an is the remedy. It is the light that Allah has placed on this earth to guide you to the straight path — the path of peace, purpose, and eternal success. Open your heart to it, recite it with reflection, and act upon its teachings. Let it illuminate your mind, purify your soul, and lead you step by step to the pleasure of your Lord. For whoever Allah guides, no one can lead astray, and whoever He honors with this light, their life will never be lost in darkness.

📜 Verse 50-53 — Ash-Shura

Or He makes them [both] males and females, and He renders whom He wills barren. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent.
And it is not for any human being that Allah should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a partition or that He sends a messenger to reveal, by His permission, what He wills. Indeed, He is Most High and Wise.
And thus We have revealed to you an inspiration of Our command. You did not know what is the Book or [what is] faith, but We have made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed, [O Muhammad], you guide to a straight path -
The path of Allah, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Unquestionably, to Allah do [all] matters evolve.
