- Yaṣlawnahā (يَصْلَوْنَهَا): They will enter it and endure its heat and torment.
Tafsir (Explanation):
Have you not seen, O Messenger, the behavior of those among the Jews who were explicitly forbidden from engaging in private, secret conversations—the kind of whispering that sows doubt and anxiety in the hearts of the believers? Yet, despite this clear prohibition, they return to exactly what they were told to abandon. They persist in holding clandestine meetings filled with sin, aggression against the believers, and outright defiance of the Messenger's commands. Their whispers are not harmless chatter; they are weapons of psychological warfare, designed to unsettle the faithful and undermine the unity of the Muslim community.
And when these same people come to you, O Messenger, they do not greet you with the noble salutation that Allah Himself has prescribed for you. Instead, they twist their tongues and say, "As-Sāmu 'alayk" — meaning "death be upon you" — a malicious play on words that conceals their hatred beneath a veneer of politeness. They think they are being clever, but their deception is transparent to Allah, who knows every hidden thought and secret intention.
Even more audacious, they say to themselves, "Why does Allah not punish us for what we say about Muhammad? If he were truly a prophet, surely Allah would strike us down for our insults." In their arrogance, they challenge the wisdom of Allah's delay in punishment, failing to realize that His justice operates on His own perfect timetable, not theirs. They mistake His forbearance for weakness, and His patience for approval.
But Allah responds to their mockery with a decisive and terrifying answer: Hellfire is sufficient for them. They will enter it, taste its scorching heat, and endure its unbearable torment. What a miserable destination! What a wretched end for those who thought they could outsmart the Creator of the heavens and the earth!
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, ponder deeply on this verse and let it awaken your heart. These people were given clear guidance, yet they chose to mock, deceive, and rebel. They thought their secret whispers were hidden, but Allah hears every syllable and sees every gesture. Nothing escapes His knowledge—not even the thoughts that pass through your mind at this very moment.
How beautiful is the path of sincerity and obedience in contrast! When you greet others with genuine peace, when you speak openly and honestly, when you respect the Messenger of Allah and follow his noble example, you align yourself with the way of the righteous. You become a person of light in a world that often dwells in shadows.
Let this verse be a reminder that Allah's justice is perfect and His punishment is certain for those who persist in transgression. But equally, His mercy is vast and His forgiveness is near for those who turn back to Him in sincere repentance. Do not be like those who tested Allah's patience with their arrogance. Instead, be among those who submit wholeheartedly, who speak only what is good, and who greet others with the beautiful salutation of peace—for peace is the greeting of Paradise, and its people are the beloved of Allah.
The choice is yours: the fleeting whispers of this world that lead to eternal regret, or the enduring peace of faith that leads to everlasting bliss. Choose wisely, for your destination depends on it.
