Tafsir (Explanation):
This noble verse addresses a specific situation regarding divorced women and their waiting period ('iddah), which is a period of time a woman must observe after divorce before she can remarry. Allah, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, lays down clear and compassionate rulings for every circumstance.
For women who have reached the age of menopause and no longer experience menstruation, if you are in doubt about how to calculate their waiting period, then their 'iddah is three months. Similarly, for young girls who have not yet begun to menstruate, their waiting period is also three months. This ruling provides clarity and removes any confusion, ensuring that no woman is left in a state of uncertainty about her religious obligations.
As for pregnant women, whether they are divorced or their husbands have passed away, their waiting period ends when they give birth to their child. This is a profound mercy from Allah, as it links the end of the waiting period to the arrival of the new life, allowing the mother to move forward with her life once she has delivered her baby.
Then the verse concludes with a beautiful and reassuring promise: "And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him ease in his affair." This is a divine guarantee that for those who are mindful of Allah, who strive to follow His commands and avoid what He has forbidden, Allah will smooth their paths, ease their difficulties, and grant them relief from every hardship in this world and the Hereafter. This is an invitation to every believer to hold fast to taqwa (God-consciousness), for it is the key to unlocking the doors of divine assistance and tranquility.
Dear reader, reflect on the beauty of this verse. It shows how Islam cares for every detail of human life, providing guidance that brings peace to hearts and order to society. The promise of ease for those who fear Allah is a source of hope and strength. So, turn to your Lord with sincerity, obey His commands, and trust that He will never abandon you. Indeed, His mercy encompasses all things, and His promise is true. Let this verse inspire you to live a life of righteousness, knowing that with every difficulty, Allah has prepared a way out and a path to ease.
