Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Fa'ayna (فَأَيْنَ): So where — an interrogative used for rebuke and astonishment.
- Tadhhabūn (تَذْهَبُونَ): Do you go — meaning, which path do you take, or which direction do you turn.
Explanation of the Verse:
After Allah has presented overwhelming, conclusive proofs of the truth of the Qur'an and the reality of the Day of Judgment — the oath by the stars that recede, the night that falls, the dawn that breathes, and the noble messengers — He turns to the deniers with a powerful, heart-stirring rebuke: "So where are you going?"
This is a rhetorical question that leaves no room for escape. It means: After all these clear signs and undeniable evidences, which path are you taking? Where are your minds leading you? How can you still reject this Qur'an when the truth is so radiant and the proof is so complete? Is there any other way that is clearer than the one shown to you? Is there any other book that carries such miraculous truth?
The verse strikes at the very core of human reasoning — it challenges the intellect itself. When the truth is as clear as the sun at midday, turning away from it is not a matter of confusion but of stubbornness. The Qur'an is not poetry, not magic, not human speech — it is the word of the Creator of the heavens and the earth. So where, then, do you go? To what other source of guidance will you turn? To what other path will you flee?
This gentle yet firm rebuke is an invitation to pause and reflect. It calls upon every soul to ask itself: What am I running from? Where am I heading? The Qur'an is a mercy and a reminder for all of humanity — a light that illuminates the path to success in this life and the next. It is not a burden but a guide. It is not a threat but a cure for the hearts.
So, dear reader, do not let your mind wander into darkness when the light is before you. Do not let your steps lead you astray when the straight path is clear. The Qur'an is your connection to your Lord — embrace it, recite it, ponder it, and live by it. For in it lies your honor, your peace, and your salvation. Where else could you possibly go that is better than the path that leads to Allah?
