Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Yarḍā (يَرْضَىٰ): To be pleased, satisfied, and content with what one receives.
Explanation of the Verse:
This concluding verse of Surah Al-Layl carries a profound and heartwarming promise. After describing the righteous person who gives his wealth seeking the Face of his Lord, the Most High, and who does not expect any favor in return, Allah assures us: "And he will surely be pleased."
This means that such a sincere believer—the one who spends for the sake of Allah alone, who purifies his soul, and who seeks only the pleasure of his Creator—will, in the Hereafter, be granted by Allah that which will bring him complete joy and satisfaction. He will receive a reward so magnificent, so beyond imagination, that his heart will be filled with contentment and his soul with delight. He will enter Paradise, behold its bliss, and receive the honor of his Lord's pleasure, and nothing will satisfy him more than that.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, look at the beauty of this divine promise! Allah does not merely say that the righteous will be rewarded—He says they will be *pleased* with what they receive. This is a reward that surpasses all measure, for it is not just about receiving something good; it is about receiving what makes the heart utterly content.
This verse invites you to ask yourself: What is my goal in this life? Is it to accumulate wealth, status, or fleeting pleasures? Or is it to seek the pleasure of Allah, the Everlasting, the Most Generous? When you purify your intentions and give for the sake of Allah—whether through charity, kindness, or good deeds—you are not losing anything. Rather, you are investing in a treasure that will bring you eternal happiness.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that Allah says: "I have prepared for My righteous servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever conceived." This is the reward that awaits those who strive sincerely. So take heart, and let this verse inspire you to draw closer to Allah, to give generously, and to seek His pleasure above all else. For the one who pleases Allah will find that Allah pleases him in return—with a happiness that will never fade.
