(A'siru khamran): I press grapes to make wine.
(Ta'wīluhu): Its interpretation or final meaning.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse takes us into the depths of the prison where Prophet Yusuf (Joseph, peace be upon him) was unjustly confined. Along with him, two young servants of the king entered the same prison. Their presence was not a coincidence; it was part of Allah's divine plan to pave the way for Yusuf's eventual rise to a position of great authority.

One of the two young men, the king's cupbearer, shared his dream: "I saw myself pressing grapes to make wine." The other, the king's baker, said: "I saw myself carrying bread on my head, and birds were eating from it." Both were troubled by their dreams and sensed that Yusuf possessed a special gift—the ability to interpret dreams with profound insight.

They turned to Yusuf and said: "Tell us the interpretation of what we saw, for we see that you are one of those who excel in goodness." They recognized in him a man of virtue, wisdom, and piety—someone who perfected his worship of Allah and treated others with kindness and integrity, even while imprisoned.

This moment is a beautiful demonstration of how Allah elevates His righteous servants. Yusuf was in the darkest of places, yet his light shone through. His character, patience, and knowledge became a beacon for others. The prisoners, despite their own distress, saw in him a source of hope and truth.

Dear reader, reflect on this: Yusuf did not let his circumstances define him. He remained devoted to Allah, and Allah honored him by making him a means of guidance for others, even in prison. This teaches us that no matter where we are or what trials we face, our faith, character, and knowledge can open doors we never imagined. Allah never abandons those who turn to Him with sincerity.

The dreams themselves carried profound meanings: one would be released and serve wine to his master again, while the other would be crucified and birds would eat from his head—as Yusuf later explained. But the key lesson here is the power of turning to Allah's righteous servants for guidance, and the importance of maintaining excellence (ihsan) in every situation.

So, dear reader, strive to be among the muhsinin—those who perfect their worship, speak with wisdom, and act with compassion. You never know whose heart you might touch or how Allah will use your goodness to change your own destiny. Trust in Allah, and let your light shine, even in the darkest of places.

📜 Verse 34-38 — Yusuf

So his Lord responded to him and averted from him their plan. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
Then it appeared to them after they had seen the signs that al-'Azeez should surely imprison him for a time.
And there entered the prison with him two young men. One of them said, "Indeed, I have seen myself [in a dream] pressing wine." The other said, "Indeed, I have seen myself carrying upon my head [some] bread, from which the birds were eating. Inform us of its interpretation; indeed, we see you to be of those who do good."
He said, "You will not receive food that is provided to you except that I will inform you of its interpretation before it comes to you. That is from what my Lord has taught me. Indeed, I have left the religion of a people who do not believe in Allah, and they, in the Hereafter, are disbelievers.
And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And it was not for us to associate anything with Allah. That is from the favor of Allah upon us and upon the people, but most of the people are not grateful.
