- Janaf (جَنَفًا): Deviation from the truth or justice — a bias or error in the will, whether intentional or unintentional.

Explanation of the Verse:
This verse follows the previous one, which warned against altering a will unjustly. Now, Allah, in His infinite mercy, opens a door of goodness for those who find themselves in a delicate situation.
If a person comes to know — or even suspects — that the one making a will has deviated from justice, whether by mistake (janaf) or by deliberate sin (ithm), such as favoring certain heirs unfairly or including unlawful bequests, then that person is encouraged to step in and make things right. This correction can happen in two ways: either by advising the testator during their lifetime to amend the will to align with Islamic law, or — if the testator has already passed away — by reconciling between the heirs and the beneficiaries, adjusting the will to bring it back to justice and fairness.
To such a person, Allah declares: "There is no sin upon him." Not only is there no blame, but this act of correction is a rewarded deed. The one who strives to restore fairness and harmony in the distribution of a will is doing an act of great virtue, for they are protecting the rights of the weak, upholding justice, and preventing family discord.
Allah closes the verse with a beautiful reassurance: "Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." This is a promise of divine reward and forgiveness for the one who sincerely seeks to rectify wrongs. It also serves as an encouragement — do not fear to intervene for the sake of justice, for Allah sees your good intention and will shower you with His mercy.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear believer, see how Islam cares for the rights of every individual, even after death! The religion of Allah does not leave the weak unprotected, nor does it allow injustice to pass silently. If you ever find yourself in a situation where a will is being made unjustly, do not remain silent — speak up with wisdom, advise with gentleness, and strive to bring about fairness. Your reward is with Allah, and your conscience will be at peace. This is the beauty of Islam: it balances justice with mercy, and it transforms even the most sensitive family matters into opportunities for goodness and divine reward. Let us be among those who bring light and fairness into the lives of others, for Allah loves those who do good.
