Tafsir (Explanation):
Remember, O Prophet, when Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him, made a humble and beautiful request to his Lord: "My Lord, show me how You give life to the dead." This was not a question of doubt or disbelief—far from it! Ibrahim was already a firm believer, a friend of Allah (Khalilullah). Rather, his heart yearned for a deeper, more intimate certainty—to witness with his own eyes the magnificent power of his Creator in action.
Allah, in His infinite wisdom and gentleness, responded: "Do you not believe?" And Ibrahim, with profound reverence, answered: "Yes, I believe with all my heart, but I ask this so that my heart may find complete tranquility and assurance." What a beautiful example of faith seeking elevation! Ibrahim wanted to ascend from the certainty of knowledge (ʿilm al-yaqīn) to the certainty of direct vision (ʿayn al-yaqīn)—to see with his eyes what he already knew in his soul.
So Allah, the Most Generous, granted his request and instructed him: "Take four birds, cut them into pieces, and place a portion of each bird on every mountain around you. Then call them, and they will come to you swiftly." Ibrahim did exactly as his Lord commanded. He took four birds—according to scholars, these were a peacock, a rooster, a crow, and a pigeon—slaughtered them, mixed their feathers and flesh, and distributed their parts across different mountains. Then he called them by the permission of Allah, and behold! Each piece flew through the air, joining its original body, and the birds came back to life, hastening toward him. A magnificent, undeniable demonstration of Allah's absolute power over life and death.
The verse concludes with a profound lesson: "And know that Allah is Almighty, All-Wise." He is ʿAzīz—the Mighty One whom nothing can overcome or prevent—and Ḥakīm—the Wise One whose every action, command, and decree is perfect in purpose and design.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, this story is not merely a historical account—it is a living lesson for your heart today. If Allah could revive birds from scattered pieces across mountains, then surely He can revive hearts that have grown cold, hopes that have been shattered, and souls that feel lost. Your Lord's power knows no limits. When you feel overwhelmed by life's challenges, remember that the One who commands life and death with a single "Be!" is fully capable of transforming your situation in an instant.
Let this verse strengthen your faith, just as it strengthened Ibrahim's. Ask Allah to increase your certainty, and know that seeking deeper faith is a noble pursuit—one that Allah honors and answers. The door of divine mercy is always open; knock with sincerity, and you will find your heart at peace.
