Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Zumaran (زُمَرًا): In groups, companies, or crowds—each group entering according to their rank and deeds.
- Khazanatuha (خَزَنَتُهَا): The keepers/guardians of Paradise, the angels appointed to welcome and manage its gates.
- Tibtum (طِبْتُمْ): You have become pure and good—your hearts, your deeds, and your very essence are cleansed.
Tafsir (Explanation):
Imagine the scene of the Hereafter: while the wicked are driven to the Fire in haste and humiliation, the righteous—those who feared their Lord by worshipping Him alone and obeying His commands—are led to Paradise with dignity and honor. They are not pushed or dragged; rather, they are gently escorted in dignified groups, each company reflecting their station of faith and good works. The word *zumar* (groups) tells us they arrive in succession, not all at once, each group rejoicing in the company of those who shared their path.
When they finally reach the gates of Paradise, something remarkable happens: the gates are already opened for them—not as a test, but as a sign of honor and readiness to receive them. The angels who guard Paradise greet them with the most beautiful salutation: *"Salamun 'alaykum"*—peace be upon you, meaning safety from every harm, every fear, and every sorrow. Then they add, *"Tibtum"*—you have become pure. This is a profound compliment: their hearts were purified from hypocrisy, their tongues from falsehood, their limbs from sin, and their souls from attachment to this fleeting world. Because they are pure, they are told: *"Enter it to abide eternally"*—no exit, no end, no interruption of bliss.
This verse carries a beautiful message for us today: Paradise is not merely a reward for ritual acts; it is the destination of those who purify themselves through taqwa (God-consciousness)—by doing what Allah loves and avoiding what He forbids. The angels' greeting teaches us that the people of Paradise are those whose inner and outer lives were aligned with goodness. And notice: the gates are opened *for them*—they do not knock or beg. Their deeds have already unlocked the doors.
Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, this verse is an invitation to hope and action. Allah describes the believers' journey to Paradise with words of gentleness and honor—*suqa* (they are led) with care, not force. This shows you that your Lord loves you and desires your success. If you strive today to purify your heart from envy, your tongue from lies, and your actions from show-off, you are preparing yourself for that moment when angels will welcome you with peace. The Prophet ﷺ told us that the first group to enter Paradise will shine like the full moon, and their greeting will be *salam*. So let this verse motivate you: every act of obedience, every tear of repentance, every step toward Allah is a step closer to those opened gates. Do not despair of Allah's mercy—He has prepared for His righteous servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart can imagine. Strive, purify, and hope—for the gates are already open for those who love Him.
