📖 English Meaning
Is the description of Paradise, which the righteous are promised, wherein are rivers of water unaltered, rivers of milk the taste of which never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of purified honey, in which they will have from all [kinds of] fruits and forgiveness from their Lord, like [that of] those who abide eternally in the Fire and are given to drink scalding water that will sever their intestines?

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Āsin (آسِن): Water that has changed in smell, color, or taste due to stagnation.
  • Ḥamīm (حَمِيم): Water heated to an extreme, boiling degree.
  • Aʿmāʾ (أَمْعَاء): The intestines or internal organs of the abdomen.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse paints a breathtaking picture of Paradise—the ultimate reward promised by Allah to the righteous who strive to obey Him and avoid what He has forbidden. It begins by describing the very essence of this eternal abode: rivers flow beneath it, but not ordinary rivers. There are rivers of water that never becomes foul or stagnant, remaining pure and refreshing forever. Rivers of milk whose taste never sours or changes, unlike the milk of this world that spoils with time. Rivers of wine—not the intoxicating, harmful wine of this world that clouds the mind and distances one from Allah—but a wine that brings pure delight to those who drink it, untouched by impurity or corruption. And rivers of honey, perfectly purified, free from any wax or blemish.

Beyond these delights, the inhabitants of Paradise will have every kind of fruit they could desire, in endless variety. But the greatest blessing of all is mentioned last: forgiveness from their Lord. Their sins will be wiped away, their shortcomings overlooked, and they will be admitted to this bliss through Allah's mercy and grace.

Then comes a powerful rhetorical question that strikes at the heart: Is such a person—one who is destined for this eternal bliss—comparable to one who will remain forever in the Fire? The contrast is stark and undeniable. The dwellers of Hell will be given boiling water to drink, so intensely hot that it will tear apart their intestines and burst from their bodies. This is not merely a physical punishment but a spiritual one—a complete and utter reversal of the comforts enjoyed by the people of Paradise.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, pause and reflect on this magnificent contrast. Allah, in His infinite mercy, has placed this description before you so that you may choose wisely. The path to Paradise is not one of hardship without reward—it is a path of patience, faith, and good deeds that leads to eternal joy beyond imagination. The rivers of Paradise await those who purify their hearts and actions. The forgiveness of Allah is within your reach—all you need is sincere repentance and a commitment to His guidance. Do not let the fleeting pleasures of this world deceive you into losing the everlasting bliss that Allah has prepared for His righteous servants. Choose Paradise today, and let every step you take be toward that eternal home of peace and delight.

📜 Verse 13-17 — Muhammad

And how many a city was stronger than your city [Makkah] which drove you out? We destroyed them; and there was no helper for them.
So is he who is on clear evidence from his Lord like him to whom the evil of his work has been made attractive and they follow their [own] desires?

And among them, [O Muhammad], are those who listen to you, until when they depart from you, they say to those who were given knowledge, "What has he said just now?" Those are the ones of whom Allah has sealed over their hearts and who have followed their [own] desires.
And those who are guided - He increases them in guidance and gives them their righteousness.
