Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Wa-lahmi (And the flesh/meat): The edible meat of birds.
- Tayr (Bird): Any bird that is lawful and delicious.
- Mimma yashtahoon (Of what they desire): Whatever their souls long for and their hearts crave.
Tafsir (Explanation):
In this blessed verse, Allah describes another delight of Paradise that awaits His righteous servants: the meat of birds, prepared in ways beyond human imagination, served to them as they wish. The phrase "of what they desire" indicates that whatever type of bird-meat they long for—whether roasted, grilled, or in any form—it will be brought to them instantly, matching their exact preference and craving. This is not merely food to satisfy hunger; it is a luxurious pleasure that fulfills the deepest yearnings of the soul.
The verse follows the mention of fruits they choose, showing that the inhabitants of Paradise are served the finest fruits first, then the choicest meats—a sequence reflecting the perfect hospitality of Allah, the Most Generous. The birds of Paradise are unlike any on earth; they are pure, delicious, and limitless in variety, prepared by the hands of angelic servants (wildan) who circulate among the believers with these delights.
This promise reminds us that Allah, who created the delicious meats we enjoy in this world, is fully capable of creating far superior pleasures in the Hereafter. The joy of eating in Paradise is not accompanied by any harm, fullness, or discomfort—only pure, unending delight.
Da'wah Reflection:
Dear believer, when you taste a delicious meal in this world, let it remind you of the eternal banquet awaiting you in Paradise. Allah does not forget even the smallest desire of His servants; He has prepared for them what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has conceived. This verse invites you to strengthen your hope in Allah's mercy and to strive for His pleasure, so that you may be among those who are served such delights. The path to this eternal bliss is simple: sincere faith, righteous deeds, and love for Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. Do not let the fleeting pleasures of this world distract you from the everlasting joy that awaits those who obey their Lord. Every moment you spend in obedience brings you closer to that moment when you will taste the finest food of Paradise, surrounded by Allah's grace and favor.
