Surah Al-Waqi'ah — Verse 20

Explanation of the Verse:

In this blessed verse, Allah describes another delight awaiting the righteous in Paradise: fruits that they themselves pick and choose. Unlike the limited choices of this world, where seasons restrict availability and personal taste may not always be satisfied, the inhabitants of Paradise are served an endless variety of exquisite fruits, and they select exactly what their hearts desire. The young servants of Paradise—immortal youths created for their service—bring these fruits before them, and whatever they fancy is instantly presented. This reflects the perfect honor and generosity of Allah toward His believing servants: He grants them complete freedom of choice, and every choice they make is available in the most perfect form.

This is part of the broader scene in which the people of the right hand (the righteous) are surrounded by every comfort and joy—pure drinks that cause no harm, delicious meats, and now fruits of their own choosing. The verse emphasizes that Paradise is not merely a place of survival or basic needs; it is a realm of abundant pleasure, tailored to the individual’s tastes and wishes, far beyond anything experienced in worldly life.
