Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- If-tara (افترى): To fabricate, invent, or forge a lie deliberately.
- Yud'a (يُدعى): Is being called or invited.
- Al-Zalimeen (الظالمين): Those who wrong themselves by persisting in disbelief and associating partners with Allah.
Tafsir (Explanation):
There is no one more unjust or greater in transgression than the one who invents lies against Allah—attributing to Him partners, rivals, or offspring—while he is being openly invited to Islam, the pure religion of monotheism that calls for sincere devotion to Allah alone. This is the ultimate form of wrongdoing: to be shown the truth and still turn away, fabricating falsehood about the Creator of the heavens and the earth.
Such a person is called to the path of salvation, to the worship of the One God, yet he chooses instead to cling to falsehood and reject the light. And Allah does not guide those who persist in injustice—those who, out of arrogance and stubbornness, prefer falsehood over truth and darkness over light. Their own choice seals their fate, for Allah’s guidance is granted to the sincere seekers of truth, not to those who deliberately wrong their own souls.
A Call to Reflection:
How amazing is the state of a person who is invited to the greatest blessing—the peace and success of Islam—yet turns away and invents lies about Allah instead! This verse is a profound reminder for every soul: Allah has opened the door of guidance wide for you, and His messengers have conveyed the truth clearly. Do not be among those who reject this call, for the greatest loss is to be offered Paradise and still choose the fire of misguidance.
O seeker of truth, Allah’s mercy is vast, and His call reaches you right now. Do not let pride or habit keep you from answering. The door of repentance is open, and the One who invites you to Islam is the Most Merciful, the Most Forgiving. Come to the light before the light is taken away, and let your heart find rest in the remembrance of the One who created you.
