Translation — Tafsir

Key Words and Phrases:

  • Yawm al-Jam‘ (Day of Gathering): The Day of Resurrection when all of creation—from the first to the last—will be assembled before Allah.
  • Yawm al-Taghābun (Day of Mutual Loss and Gain): A name for the Day of Judgment highlighting the profound loss suffered by the disbelievers and the great gain achieved by the believers.
  • Takfīr (to expiate): Allah’s act of wiping away and forgiving the sins of His believing servants.
  • Al-Fawz al-‘Aẓīm (the Great Success): The ultimate, unparalleled triumph of attaining eternal bliss in Paradise and being saved from Hellfire.

The Tafsir (Explanation):

Imagine that moment—the Day when Allah gathers every single human being who has ever lived, from the dawn of time until the last breath of existence, into one vast plain. This is called the Day of Gathering (*Yawm al-Jam‘*), because no soul will be left behind. It is also called the Day of Mutual Loss and Gain (*Yawm al-Taghābun*), because on that day, the true reality of every person’s choices will be laid bare. The disbelievers will look at the believers and see the eternal bliss they have lost, while the believers will realize the immense favor Allah bestowed upon them by guiding them to faith. It is a day of utter clarity—where the scales of justice are set, and every deed finds its due reward.

Then comes the glorious promise: whoever believes in Allah with a sincere heart—believing in His oneness, His messengers, and His promise—and follows that belief with righteous actions, Allah will wipe away their sins. Not a single bad deed will be held against them; it will be erased as if it never existed. Instead, He will admit them into Gardens beneath which rivers flow, where the trees are lush, the palaces are grand, and the streams never cease. They will live there forever—never to die, never to age, never to feel pain or sorrow. This is not a temporary reward; it is an eternal reality.

And this—this everlasting life in Paradise—is the Great Success. There is no achievement in this world, no wealth, no power, no pleasure that can compare to it. Every hardship endured for the sake of Allah, every sin avoided, every act of patience and charity—all of it will be repaid with a reward that has no end.

So let this verse awaken your heart: the Day of Gathering is certain, and the choice is yours today. Will you be among those who gain, or those who lose? The door of repentance and good deeds is wide open right now. Allah is not only Just but also Merciful—He does not merely punish; He forgives, He erases, and He grants beyond what we can imagine. Run toward Him with faith and righteous action, and you will taste a success that no worldly victory can ever match.

📜 Verse 7-11 — At-Taghabun

Those who disbelieve have claimed that they will never be resurrected. Say, "Yes, by my Lord, you will surely be resurrected; then you will surely be informed of what you did. And that, for Allah, is easy."
So believe in Allah and His Messenger and the Qur'an which We have sent down. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
The Day He will assemble you for the Day of Assembly - that is the Day of Deprivation. And whoever believes in Allah and does righteousness - He will remove from him his misdeeds and admit him to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment.
But the ones who disbelieved and denied Our verses - those are the companions of the Fire, abiding eternally therein; and wretched is the destination.
No disaster strikes except by permission of Allah. And whoever believes in Allah - He will guide his heart. And Allah is Knowing of all things.
