📖 English Meaning
And remember Allah during [specific] numbered days. Then whoever hastens [his departure] in two days - there is no sin upon him; and whoever delays [until the third] - there is no sin upon him - for him who fears Allah. And fear Allah and know that unto Him you will be gathered.

Word Meanings:

  • Ayyam Ma'dudat: The appointed, limited days — specifically the Days of Tashreeq (the 11th, 12th, and 13th of Dhul-Hijjah).
  • Ta'ajjala: To hasten, i.e., to leave Mina on the second day after completing the rituals.
  • Ta'akhkhara: To delay, i.e., to stay until the third day and complete the full rites.
  • Tuhsharun: You will be gathered, resurrected, and brought before Allah for judgment.

Explanation of the Verse:

After completing the sacred rites of Hajj, Allah commands the pilgrims to remember Him abundantly during the Days of Tashreeq — three short but blessed days following the Day of Sacrifice. This remembrance includes glorifying Allah (tasbeeh), declaring His greatness (takbeer), and praising Him — especially after the obligatory prayers and while casting the pebbles at the Jamarat. These days are a continuation of the spiritual atmosphere of Hajj, a time when the heart remains connected to its Lord even as the physical rituals wind down.

Allah then grants a generous concession: whoever hastens and departs Mina on the second day, after completing the stoning before sunset, bears no sin — for Allah has made the matter easy. And whoever chooses to delay until the third day, completing the full stoning and staying the extra night, also bears no sin — and this delay is actually the more virtuous and complete option, for it follows the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and provides more time for worship and devotion. This flexibility is a manifestation of Allah's mercy, accommodating the varying circumstances of His servants.

However, this ease and concession is specifically for those who are mindful of Allah — those who perform their Hajj with sincerity, avoid what Allah has forbidden, and observe the limits He has set. The concession is not a license for negligence; rather, it is a mercy for the obedient.

The verse concludes with a profound reminder: "And fear Allah, and know that unto Him you will be gathered." This is a call to taqwa — God-consciousness — in all affairs, and a vivid reminder that this worldly life is but a fleeting stage. Every soul will return to its Creator for the ultimate reckoning, where every deed — great or small — will be weighed and recompensed with perfect justice.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Beloved brother or sister in humanity, ponder the beauty of this verse: even in the final days of Hajj, Allah keeps His servants engaged in His remembrance, granting them ease while encouraging excellence. This is the essence of Islam — a religion that balances mercy with discipline, flexibility with devotion. The same Allah who makes His worship easy for you is the One who will gather you on a Day when only your deeds will speak for you. So seize these blessed moments — whether in Hajj or in your daily life — to remember Allah, to obey Him, and to prepare for that inevitable meeting. The doors of His mercy are wide open; the path to His pleasure is clear. Do not let this life's distractions make you forget the ultimate return. Every breath is an opportunity to draw closer to Him, and every act of obedience is a treasure for the Hereafter. Embrace this beautiful faith, and let the remembrance of Allah fill your heart with peace and your life with purpose.

But among them is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."
Those will have a share of what they have earned, and Allah is swift in account.

And of the people is he whose speech pleases you in worldly life, and he calls Allah to witness as to what is in his heart, yet he is the fiercest of opponents.
And when he goes away, he strives throughout the land to cause corruption therein and destroy crops and animals. And Allah does not like corruption.
