Surah Al-Hujurat — Verse 1

• لَا تُقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيِ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ (Do not put yourselves forward before Allah and His Messenger): Do not rush to decide matters of religion or life before Allah and His Messenger have ruled on them. Do not speak or act in a way that precedes or contradicts their command.
• وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ (And fear Allah): Have consciousness of Allah, fulfilling His commands and avoiding His prohibitions out of reverence and awe.

• عَلِيمٌ (All-Knowing): He knows your innermost intentions, your thoughts, and all your deeds, nothing escapes His knowledge.

The Interpretation:

O you who have truly believed in Allah and followed His Messenger! Do not rush ahead of Allah and His Messenger in any matter—whether in matters of worship, daily life, or judgment. Do not issue a ruling, make a decision, or speak a word before Allah and His Messenger have spoken on it. This means you must not innovate in the religion what Allah has not permitted, nor pass judgment before consulting the Qur'an and the Sunnah. Let the command of Allah and His Messenger be the first and final word in all your affairs.

And fear Allah—be mindful of Him in everything you say and do. Guard yourselves against contradicting His command, and submit fully to His will and the guidance of His Messenger. Indeed, Allah is All-Hearing of your words, and All-Knowing of your intentions and deeds. Nothing escapes His hearing or His knowledge, and He will call you to account for all of it.

This verse is a profound lesson in humility and discipline for the believer: it teaches us that our intellect, desires, and opinions must bow before the revelation of Allah. True faith is not merely in the heart—it is reflected in how we defer to Allah's guidance in every aspect of our lives. When we place Allah's command first, we find peace, success, and harmony.
