Word Meanings:

  • Yassarnā: We made easy, facilitated, and smoothed.
  • Al-Qur’ān: The Recitation; the Book of Allah revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
  • Lil-Dhikr: For remembrance, admonition, and taking heed.
  • Muddakir: One who remembers, reflects, and draws lessons; one who seeks to be reminded.

Explanation of the Verse:

Allah, the Most Merciful, declares that He has made the Qur’an profoundly easy—easy to recite, easy to memorize, easy to understand, and easy to apply. He has removed all barriers between this Book and the human heart, so that anyone who sincerely turns to it can grasp its guidance and be moved by its warnings and glad tidings. The verse then poses a stirring, rhetorical question: “Is there anyone who will take heed?” It is a loving call from the Creator to His servants, inviting them to wake up, reflect, and let the Qur’an transform their lives. The question is repeated throughout this chapter as a gentle yet powerful nudge, reminding us that the door of guidance is wide open—no one is excluded, no excuse remains.

A Da’wah Reflection:

Imagine a treasure so vast that its gates are flung open, its paths smoothed, and its light made radiant for every seeker—this is the Qur’an. Allah did not make faith difficult; He made His Book a companion for every soul, in every age, in every tongue. The ease of memorization, the clarity of its parables, and the depth of its wisdom are all divine gifts. So the question returns to you, dear reader: *Will you not be among those who remember?* The Qur’an is not a book to be shelved or admired from afar—it is a living guide, a healing for the heart, and a light for the path. Take one verse today, ponder it, and let it speak to your soul. The One who made it easy is waiting for you to turn its pages with sincerity, and He promises that whoever draws near to it will find his heart revived, his worries eased, and his purpose illuminated. There is no better moment than now to answer the call: *Is there anyone who will take heed?* Yes—let it be you.

15وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَاهَا آيَةً فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍ
And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember?
16فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?
