📖 English Meaning
So when the stars are obliterated
📜

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • An-Nujum (النُّجُومُ): The stars scattered across the sky.
  • Tumisat (طُمِسَت): Their light was wiped out, erased, and extinguished completely—leaving no trace of their glow.

Explanation of the Verse:

When the stars have their light obliterated and their radiance completely erased, they will no longer shine or guide anyone in the darkness. This marks the beginning of the cosmic upheaval that signals the end of this world and the arrival of the Day of Judgment. The once-brilliant celestial bodies, which have adorned the heavens and served as signs for humanity, will be stripped of their luminosity, plunging the universe into a state of utter transformation. This vivid imagery reminds us that the world we know is temporary and will inevitably come to an end, making way for the eternal life to come.

Reflection and Call to Faith:

Dear reader, contemplate this powerful scene: the very stars that have illuminated the night skies since the beginning of time will one day be extinguished in an instant. This is not a distant myth but a certain reality that Allah, the Almighty, has promised. The extinction of the stars is a call to awaken your heart—to realize that nothing in this worldly life is permanent. Every light, every beauty, and every comfort you see will fade, but the light of faith and the rewards of righteous deeds will shine forever in the Hereafter. Let this verse inspire you to turn to your Creator, to strengthen your bond with Him, and to live a life that prepares you for the day when all lights will go out except the light of His mercy. The stars falling silent is a reminder that the ultimate truth lies not in the skies above, but in the message of the Qur'an and the promise of meeting your Lord. Seize this moment to reflect, repent, and draw closer to the One who controls the heavens and the earth.
