Tafsir (Explanation):
O Prophet, remember and reflect upon this great blessing from Allah — when He showed you the enemy in your dream as few in number. You informed the believers of this, and their hearts were strengthened, their courage was renewed, and they became resolute and eager to meet the enemy in battle. This vision was a divine mercy, for it prepared the believers mentally and spiritually for the confrontation at Badr.
Had Allah shown you the enemy as numerous and overwhelming in that dream, your companions would have lost heart, their determination would have weakened, and they would have fallen into dispute and disagreement over whether to fight or retreat. Fear and hesitation would have gripped them, leading to failure before the battle even began. But Allah, in His infinite wisdom and grace, saved you and the believers from that outcome. He showed you the enemy as few, so that your hearts would be firm and your resolve unshaken.
Indeed, Allah alone knows what lies within the hearts of His servants — their hidden fears, their secret intentions, their capacity for courage or cowardice, and their readiness for patience or panic. Nothing is concealed from Him, and His planning is perfect. He arranges affairs in the way that is best for His believing servants, even when they do not perceive the wisdom behind it.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse carries a profound lesson for every believer: Allah's management of our affairs is always better than our own planning. When we place our trust in Him, He opens doors we never imagined and removes obstacles we feared the most. Just as He strengthened the hearts of the Companions through a single dream, He can strengthen your heart today through His remembrance and His promise of victory for those who are patient and steadfast.
So, dear believer, when you face a challenge that seems overwhelming, remember that Allah sees what you cannot see. He knows the hidden strengths within you, and He knows the hidden weaknesses of your enemies. Put your trust in Him, obey His commands, and He will grant you success in ways you never expected. For indeed, Allah is the Best of Planners, and His knowledge encompasses everything that lies within your heart and the hearts of all creation.
