Tafsir (Explanation):

Remember, O believers, that moment on the battlefield when you met the enemy face to face. Allah, in His infinite wisdom and power, made the enemy appear few in your eyes, giving you courage and boldness to advance against them without hesitation. At the same time, He made you appear few in their eyes, so that they would underestimate you and rush forward carelessly, without proper preparation or caution. This mutual illusion was not a deception for its own sake, but a divine strategy to bring about a matter that was already decreed and destined to happen: the triumph of truth over falsehood, the elevation of Islam and its people, and the humiliation of polytheism and its adherents. Allah willed that the believers would achieve victory, that the disbelievers would taste defeat, and that His promise of support for the righteous would be fulfilled in the most perfect manner.

This verse teaches us a profound lesson about divine providence. Allah, the Almighty, orchestrates events behind the scenes in ways that human minds cannot fully comprehend. He may make things appear one way while the reality is entirely different, all for a greater purpose that serves His divine plan. The believers were not victorious because of their numbers or equipment, but because Allah willed their success and prepared the circumstances to lead to that outcome.

And ultimately, all affairs — whether they pertain to victory or defeat, life or death, this world or the Hereafter — return to Allah alone. He is the final authority over everything, and to Him all matters are referred. He judges with perfect justice, rewarding the righteous for their good deeds and holding the wrongdoers accountable for their evil actions. So let every believer place their complete trust in Allah, knowing that He is the Best of Planners, and that His decree is always wise, just, and beautiful — even when we cannot see the full picture at the moment.

This divine intervention on the day of Badr is a timeless reminder that when you are on the path of truth, Allah Himself becomes your supporter and strategist. He can flip the entire situation in your favor in ways you never imagined. So never fear the overwhelming odds, never be intimidated by the apparent strength of your opponents, and never lose hope in Allah's help. For He who made a small band of believers appear mighty in the eyes of a well-armed army — and made that army appear weak in the eyes of the believers — is fully capable of granting you victory over any challenge you face, as long as you remain steadfast in faith and obedience to Him.

📜 Verse 42-46 — Al-Anfal

[Remember] when you were on the near side of the valley, and they were on the farther side, and the caravan was lower [in position] than you. If you had made an appointment [to meet], you would have missed the appointment. But [it was] so that Allah might accomplish a matter already destined - that those who perished [through disbelief] would perish upon evidence and those who lived [in faith] would live upon evidence; and indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing.
[Remember, O Muhammad], when Allah showed them to you in your dream as few; and if He had shown them to you as many, you [believers] would have lost courage and would have disputed in the matter [of whether to fight], but Allah saved [you from that]. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.
And [remember] when He showed them to you, when you met, as few in your eyes, and He made you [appear] as few in their eyes so that Allah might accomplish a matter already destined. And to Allah are [all] matters returned.
O you who have believed, when you encounter a company [from the enemy forces], stand firm and remember Allah much that you may be successful.
And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.
