Word Meanings:
- Lawḥ (لَوْحٍ): A tablet or inscribed surface.
- Maḥfūẓ (مَّحْفُوظٍ): Preserved, guarded, protected from any alteration, corruption, or loss.
Explanation of the Verse:
This concluding verse of Surah Al-Burūj reveals the ultimate origin and nature of the Qur’an, addressing the false accusations of the disbelievers who claimed it was poetry or sorcery. Allah declares that this Qur’an is not the product of human imagination or devilish inspiration—rather, it is a majestic and noble scripture, inscribed in a Preserved Tablet (al-Lawḥ al-Maḥfūẓ). This Tablet is with Allah, safeguarded from any form of tampering, distortion, addition, or omission. It is immune to error, forgetfulness, or the passage of time. Just as the heavens and earth are under Allah’s absolute control, so too is His final revelation eternally protected from corruption—unlike previous scriptures that were altered by human hands. The verse reassures believers that the Qur’an they recite today is exactly as it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), word for word, letter for letter, and will remain so until the end of time.
Da‘wah Reflection:
This verse is a profound source of comfort and conviction for every Muslim. It tells us that the Book we hold in our hands is not an ordinary book—it is the direct speech of the Creator, preserved by His own promise. When you open the Qur’an, you are connecting with a divine message that has survived centuries of opposition, yet remains untouched and pure. This preservation is a living miracle and a sign of Allah’s love for humanity: He did not leave us without guidance, and He ensured that this guidance would never be lost or corrupted. Let this certainty deepen your trust in Allah and increase your reverence for His words. The Qur’an is your personal letter from your Lord—read it, ponder it, and let it transform your heart. Whoever holds firmly to this preserved Book will never be led astray, for it is the unbreakable rope of Allah that leads to eternal success in this life and the Hereafter.
