Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Ṣuḥufi (صُحُفِ): Scriptures, scrolls, or divine books revealed by Allah.
- Ibrāhīm (إِبْرَاهِيمَ): Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him, the friend of Allah (Khalīlullāh).
- Mūsā (مُوسَىٰ): Prophet Moses, peace be upon him, to whom the Torah was revealed.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse concludes the previous statement in which Allah Almighty says that what has been mentioned in this blessed chapter—of success for those who purify themselves, remembrance of their Lord, preference for the Hereafter over worldly life, and the eternal bliss of Paradise—is not new or unprecedented. Rather, its meaning and essence were already recorded in the earlier divine scriptures that were revealed before the Qur'an. These are the scriptures given to Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) and Prophet Moses (peace be upon him).
The revelation of the Qur'an confirms and reiterates the same fundamental truths that were sent down in those earlier books: the oneness of Allah, the importance of purification of the soul, the reality of the Day of Judgment, and the ultimate triumph of the righteous. This continuity across all divine revelations demonstrates that Islam is not a new religion but the completion and final form of the one true message that Allah has sent to humanity from the very beginning.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, ponder deeply upon this magnificent truth: the message of the Qur'an is the same eternal guidance that Allah sent to His chosen prophets throughout history. From the scrolls of Abraham to the Torah of Moses, and finally to the Qur'an revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the call has always been one—to worship Allah alone, to purify our hearts and deeds, and to prepare for the meeting with our Lord.
How fortunate are we to have received this final and complete revelation! It is a mercy that encompasses all of humanity until the end of time. Let this verse inspire you to open your heart to the Qur'an, to reflect on its verses, and to implement its teachings in your daily life. For the one who purifies their soul and remembers their Lord will surely attain success in this life and the next. Do not let this opportunity slip away—the door of repentance and guidance is always open, and Allah, the Most Merciful, welcomes all who turn to Him with sincerity.
