Tafsir (Explanation):
Allah, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, has made the sacrificial camels — those magnificent, sturdy animals — among the sacred symbols of His religion. He has elevated their status and linked them to His worship, so that when you offer them for His sake, you are drawing closer to Him and honoring His commands. This is a profound act of devotion that connects the believer's heart to the Creator, reminding us that all we possess ultimately belongs to Him.
In these animals, there is abundant goodness for you — both in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. In this life, you benefit from their meat, their hides, and their strength for carrying burdens; and in the Hereafter, you earn immense reward and divine pleasure for your sincere obedience. So when you prepare to sacrifice them, let them stand in rows with their legs tied, and pronounce the name of Allah upon them — saying "Bismillah, Allahu Akbar" — for this is the moment when your heart should be most present, most humble, and most grateful.
Once they have fallen to the ground on their sides, and their life has ended, then eat from their meat as an act of worship and gratitude, and generously feed the poor who are content and do not ask, as well as those who come seeking provision. This is not merely a ritual — it is a beautiful system of social solidarity, where the wealthy share with the needy, and the bonds of community are strengthened through compassion and generosity.
Just as Allah has subjected these mighty animals to you — despite their size and strength — so too has He subjected all of creation for your benefit. They stand calmly for you, they allow themselves to be led and sacrificed, all by His power and will. This is a sign of His immense favor upon you, so that you may be grateful — thanking Him with your hearts, your tongues, and your actions. And know, dear believer, that gratitude is the key to increase: the more you thank Allah, the more He blesses you, and the closer you draw to Him, the more He loves you. Let this act of sacrifice be a reflection of your willingness to submit fully to your Lord, just as the Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) submitted, and let it purify your soul and elevate your rank in the sight of Allah.
