Explanation of the Verse:
Allah, the Exalted, draws our attention to one of His magnificent signs in the natural world: the meeting of two seas. He is the One who releases and lets flow two vast bodies of water side by side—one that is fresh, sweet, and delightful to drink, and another that is salty, bitter, and undrinkable. Yet, despite their proximity, He has placed between them an invisible barrier and a firm, protective boundary that prevents them from mixing and corrupting one another. The fresh water does not become salty, and the salt water does not become fresh. They coexist in perfect harmony, each preserving its own nature, by the sheer will and power of Allah.
This is not merely a physical phenomenon—it is a living lesson for humanity. The One who holds back the sea from overwhelming the river, and the river from diluting the sea, is the same Lord who manages every affair of your life. If He can maintain such delicate balance between two opposing forces in nature, then surely He is capable of bringing together what seems impossible in your circumstances, and separating what must be kept apart for your own good.
Reflect, dear reader: the same Allah who placed a barrier between two seas has also placed barriers in your life—between you and harm, between you and despair, between you and the trials that would otherwise drown you. He has set boundaries for your protection, not to restrict you, but to preserve the sweetness of your faith and the purity of your heart. When you see the oceans meeting yet never mixing, remember that His wisdom is at work in every detail of your existence. Trust Him, for He is the Master of perfect balance and infinite mercy.
