Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Qalbika (قَلْبِكَ): Your heart — the seat of intellect, understanding, and spiritual perception.
- Al-Mundhirīn (الْمُنذِرِينَ): The warners — those sent by Allah to caution their people against His punishment and to call them to the truth.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse completes the previous one, where Allah Almighty swears by the revelation of the Qur'an. Here, He specifies the manner of that revelation: it was sent down upon the heart of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This is a profound honor — the Qur'an was not merely heard or recited, but it was engraved upon his blessed heart, preserved in his memory, and deeply understood in his soul. The heart is mentioned specifically because it is the center of consciousness and conviction; the Prophet did not just receive words, but he internalized them with complete certainty and clarity.
The purpose of this divine revelation is then stated: "so that you may be among the warners." This means that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was chosen to deliver Allah's message to humanity — to warn them of the consequences of disbelief and sin, and to invite them to worship Allah alone. This warning is not a message of despair, but a mercy from Allah, giving people the chance to turn back to Him before it is too late. The Prophet's role as a warner extends to all of creation — humans and jinn alike — until the end of time, and this Qur'an remains the eternal warning for every generation.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, reflect on the greatness of this moment: the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of all worlds, chose to speak to His final Messenger directly through the angel Jibril, placing this magnificent Book upon his heart. This Qur'an is not a human composition — it is the very speech of Allah, preserved and transmitted to us with perfect accuracy. When you recite it, you are connecting with that same divine message that was revealed over fourteen centuries ago.
And note the beautiful purpose: the Qur'an was sent to warn, but warning in Islam is always coupled with glad tidings. The warners are not bearers of bad news; they are guides who light the path to salvation. Every verse of the Qur'an that calls you to righteousness is a mercy, every warning of punishment is an invitation to avoid harm, and every promise of Paradise is a motivation to strive. So let this verse inspire you to open your heart to the Qur'an as the Prophet opened his — with sincerity, understanding, and a willingness to act upon it. For whoever makes the Qur'an their companion in this life will find it a companion in the grave and a intercessor on the Day of Judgment.
