📖 English Meaning
You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allah - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination.

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

(Latublawunna): You will certainly be tested and tried.
(Adhan katheeran): Much harm and hurtful speech.
(Azm al-umoor): Matters of great resolve and determination; deeds that require firm commitment and are highly commendable.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O believers, Allah is telling you a truth that you must carry in your hearts: you will most certainly be tested in your wealth and in yourselves. The test in your wealth comes through the obligations you are commanded to spend—like zakat and charity—and through calamities that may strike your possessions, such as loss, damage, or decrease. The test in yourselves comes through the duties Allah has placed upon you—like prayer, fasting, and striving in His cause—and through hardships that may touch your very being, such as illness, injury, loss of loved ones, or even death. All of this is a divine means to distinguish the truthful believer from the one who merely claims faith.

And you will also hear from the People of the Book—the Jews and Christians—and from the polytheists much hurtful speech: mockery of your religion, insults against your Prophet ﷺ, and attempts to shake your certainty. This is a promise from Allah, so that you may not be caught off guard or shaken when such words reach your ears.

But here is the key to victory and honor: if you remain patient—steadfast in the face of trials and harm—and you remain conscious of Allah (taqwa), by doing what He commands and avoiding what He forbids, then know that this patience and piety are among the most excellent and praiseworthy of matters. They are deeds of great resolve that Allah loves, and the one who achieves them has grasped a tremendous good. The companions of the Prophet ﷺ lived this reality; they were harmed, boycotted, and persecuted, yet their patience and taqwa turned their trials into triumphs, and their weakness into strength.

So, dear believer, when trials come to your wealth, your body, or your heart, do not despair. Know that Allah is testing you to raise your rank and to purify your soul. And when you hear hurtful words against your faith, let your response be patience, dignity, and increased devotion to your Lord. For the one who endures with patience and taqwa has chosen the path of the mighty—the path that leads to Allah’s pleasure and to a reward that is far greater than any harm inflicted in this world. This is the way of those who truly resolve, and it is an honor that no enemy can take away from you.

📜 Verse 184-188 — Aal-Imran

Then if they deny you, [O Muhammad] - so were messengers denied before you, who brought clear proofs and written ordinances and the enlightening Scripture.
Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.
You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allah - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination.
And [mention, O Muhammad], when Allah took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture, [saying], "You must make it clear to the people and not conceal it." But they threw it away behind their backs and exchanged it for a small price. And wretched is that which they purchased.
And never think that those who rejoice in what they have perpetrated and like to be praised for what they did not do - never think them [to be] in safety from the punishment, and for them is a painful punishment.
