Translation — Tafsir
In this sacred House are clear signs and evidences of its great status and blessing. Among the most prominent of these signs is the Station of Ibrahim (Maqam Ibrahim) — the stone upon which Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) stood while he and his son Ismail were raising the foundations of the Kaaba. This stone remains to this day as a blessed monument of that noble effort. Furthermore, whoever enters the Sacred House (the Haram) is granted safety and security, and no one may harm him therein.
Allah has made it an obligatory duty upon all people who are able — physically and financially — to perform the pilgrimage (Hajj) to this sacred House. This obligation is not limited to a specific people or time; it is a universal command from the Lord of all worlds. The ability (istita'ah) includes having the means of transportation, sufficient provisions, good health, and safety on the journey. Whoever denies this obligation or rejects it out of arrogance has committed an act of disbelief, for Allah is completely free of need from His creation. He does not need our worship, nor does our obedience benefit Him; rather, it is we who are in need of His mercy and reward.
Dear reader, reflect on the greatness of this verse: Allah has honored humanity by inviting them to His sacred House, where sins are forgiven, prayers are multiplied, and hearts find tranquility. The Hajj is a journey of a lifetime — a unique opportunity to stand before your Lord, stripped of worldly distinctions, united with millions of believers from every corner of the earth. It is a reminder of the Day when all people will stand before Allah equally, with no wealth, no lineage, and no status — only their deeds.
Do not let excuses prevent you from answering this divine call if you have the means. And if you have not yet reached the level of ability, then strive and make sincere du'a that Allah grants you this immense blessing. For the one who intends good and seeks it with a truthful heart, Allah opens the doors of His mercy in ways they never imagined. May Allah make us among those who respond to His call and visit His sacred House.
