Surah Aal-Imran — Verse 98

Word Meanings:

• Ahl al-Kitab (People of the Book): The Jews and Christians who received the Torah and the Gospel.
• Ayat Allah (Signs of Allah): The clear proofs, miracles, and evidences—including the verses of the Qur'an and the prophecies in their own scriptures—that point to the truth of Islam and the prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him).
• Shahid (Witness): Allah is fully aware and observes all that they do; nothing is hidden from Him.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O Messenger, say to the Jews and Christians: "Why do you reject the signs of Allah—those clear proofs and evidences that affirm that the true religion with Allah is Islam, and that confirm the truth of Muhammad's prophethood? These signs include what is found in your own Torah and Gospel, which you know well. Yet you deny them and turn away in disbelief. And Allah is a Witness over all that you do—He sees your deeds, knows your intentions, and will hold you accountable for every act of denial and every word of rejection. This is a stern warning and a grave threat: your disbelief does not go unnoticed, and your deeds are recorded for the Day of Recompense."

Da'wah Reflection:

How amazing is the mercy of Allah that He sends His messengers to warn and guide, and how severe is the consequence for those who knowingly reject the truth! The People of the Book were given scriptures and prophecies that pointed directly to the final Messenger, yet they turned away. Let this be a lesson for every seeker of truth: do not let pride, habit, or worldly interest blind you to the clear signs of Allah. The Qur'an is before you today—read it, reflect on it, and you will find in it the light that guides to every good. Allah is witnessing your search, your intentions, and your deeds. So hasten to the truth before the Day when no excuse will avail, and embrace the mercy that Allah has opened for all who believe and submit. Indeed, in Islam you will find peace for your heart, clarity for your mind, and salvation for your soul.
