- Al-Hamdu (الْحَمْدُ): All praise, gratitude, and perfect commendation.

Tafsir (Explanation):
This verse is a magnificent declaration of Allah’s absolute uniqueness and eternal nature. Allah is Al-Hayy—the Ever-Living One whose life is not borrowed, not temporary, and not subject to death. Unlike every created being that lives and will one day perish, Allah’s life is intrinsic and everlasting. He is the only true deity worthy of worship; there is no god but Him, for nothing in existence resembles Him or shares His divine attributes.
Because He alone is the Ever-Living and the only true God, the verse commands us: "So call upon Him, making your religion pure for Him." This means we must direct all our supplications, prayers, and acts of worship exclusively to Allah—whether it is the worship of the heart (love, fear, hope), the worship of the tongue (du'a, dhikr), or the worship of the limbs (prayer, charity, fasting). Sincerity (ikhlas) is the essence of this call: we must purify our intentions from any trace of showing off, seeking praise, or associating partners with Him. When you call upon Allah in times of need or in regular worship, do so with a heart free from shirk (polytheism) and fully devoted to Him alone.
The verse concludes with a beautiful reminder: "All praise is for Allah, the Lord of all worlds." This is the natural response of a heart that recognizes Allah's perfection. When you realize that He is the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of everything, and the only One worthy of worship, your heart overflows with gratitude and praise. This praise is not just a word on the tongue—it is a life lived in thankfulness, obedience, and love for the One who created you, sustains you, and will never abandon you.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on this profound truth: your Lord is Ever-Living. He never sleeps, never tires, and never dies. Every time you call upon Him—whether in the stillness of the night or the chaos of the day—He hears you, for His life is perfect and His attention is complete. This is your greatest source of hope and comfort. You are not calling upon a distant, indifferent force; you are calling upon a Living Lord who responds to those who sincerely seek Him.
The key to unlocking His response is sincerity. Purify your heart, your intentions, and your actions for Him alone. Let go of every false god—whether it is wealth, status, desires, or the opinions of people—and turn your face wholly to Allah. When you do, you will taste the sweetness of true worship and the peace that comes from knowing you are connected to the Ever-Living One.
And when you experience His blessings, let your tongue and your life proclaim: "Alhamdulillah, Rabbil 'Alamin" —all praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of all worlds. This is the key to Paradise and the essence of gratitude. Make this verse your daily reminder: live for Him, call upon Him, and praise Him—and you will find a life of true success in this world and the next.
