Word Meanings:

We left it" or "We preserved it," meaning We kept it as a lasting remnant.
  • آيَةً — "a sign," i.e., a clear lesson, proof, or warning for those who reflect.
  • مُدَّكِرٍ — "one who remembers/recalls," i.e., a person who takes heed, reflects, and draws a lesson from what they see or hear.

Explanation of the Verse:

After the great flood that destroyed the disbelieving people of Noah (peace be upon him), Allah Almighty states that He preserved that event—whether the ark itself, the story, or the punishment that befell the wicked—as a lasting sign and a profound lesson for all who came after them. The ark remained as a tangible proof of Allah’s power, His justice, and His mercy toward the believers who boarded it. This verse calls out to humanity: "Is there anyone who will take heed? Is there anyone who will reflect and learn from what happened to those who rejected the truth?" It is an open invitation to every generation, including ours, to open their hearts and minds, to look at the fate of the arrogant and the stubborn, and to realize that Allah’s promise is true—His punishment is severe, and His mercy is near to those who believe and do right.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

This verse is a beautiful, direct appeal from the Lord of the Worlds to every human being. It does not force anyone to believe; rather, it gently and powerfully asks: "Is there anyone who will remember?" It is as if Allah Himself is knocking on the door of your heart, urging you to look at history, to see how the mighty were brought low, and to understand that the only path to safety—both in this world and the next—is through faith, obedience, and turning back to Him. The story of Noah is not just a tale of the past; it is a mirror for today. Every time you see a ship sailing the seas, or hear of a flood, or read about the destruction of tyrants, remember this verse. Let it awaken your conscience. Let it strengthen your trust in Allah and your commitment to His guidance. For the one who remembers, who reflects, and who acts upon the truth—that person has truly succeeded. So, dear reader, be among those who say: "Yes, my Lord, I am here. I remember. I take heed. I submit to You."

📜 Verse 13-17 — Al-Qamar

And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails,
Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied.
And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember?
And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.
And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?
