Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Talhin (طَلْحٍ): According to the majority of scholars of Tafsir, this refers to banana trees. Some have also interpreted it as acacia trees, but the most widely accepted view is that it means banana.
  • Mandood (مَّنضُودٍ): This means piled up, arranged in layers, or clustered together — referring to fruit stacked from the bottom of the tree to the top, one above another in an orderly fashion.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this verse, Allah describes another blessing prepared for the people of the Right — those who will be honored on the Day of Judgment. Among the delights of Paradise, they will have banana trees whose fruit is piled up in clusters, arranged beautifully from the base to the top, layer upon layer. This is not just any fruit, but one that is abundant, easily accessible, and perfect in taste and appearance.

The mention of this specific fruit serves as a vivid image of the abundance and perfection of Paradise. Unlike the banana trees of this world, which bear fruit only once and then wither, the banana trees of Paradise are ever-fresh, their fruit always present, beautifully arranged, and never depleted. The word "mandood" emphasizes the visual beauty of this scene — fruit so plentiful that it hangs in dense, orderly clusters, inviting the believer to pick and enjoy at any moment.

This description awakens in the believer's heart a longing for Paradise and reminds us that Allah, in His infinite mercy and generosity, has prepared for His righteous servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human mind can conceive. The blessings of Paradise are not merely material — they are a reflection of Allah's love for those who believed in Him, obeyed His commands, and followed His Messenger.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear brother and sister in Islam, when you read this verse, let your heart yearn for that eternal home where every pleasure is pure, every fruit is perfect, and every moment is filled with joy. This is the reward that Allah has promised to those who live their lives in obedience to Him. So let this beautiful image motivate you to increase your good deeds, to strengthen your faith, and to strive for the highest ranks of Paradise. The path to this eternal bliss is not difficult — it begins with sincere faith, continues with righteous actions, and is perfected by seeking Allah's pleasure in all that you do. Do not let the fleeting pleasures of this world distract you from the everlasting delights that await you. May Allah make us among the people of the Right and grant us the joy of His Paradise.
