Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- Furādā (فُرَادَىٰ): One by one, individually, alone — without family, wealth, or status.
- Khawwalnākum (خَوَّلْنَاكُمْ): What We granted you and entrusted you with — such as wealth, children, power, and worldly comforts.
- Shufaʿā’akum (شُفَعَاءَكُم): Your intercessors — the idols and false deities you claimed would plead on your behalf.
- Taqaṭṭaʿa baynakum (تَقَطَّعَ بَيْنَكُمْ): The ties between you have been severed — all connections and bonds of the worldly life are cut off.
- Ḍalla (ضَلَّ): Lost, vanished, and became utterly useless.
Explanation of the Verse:
On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will address those who denied Him and associated partners with Him, saying: "You have come to Us exactly as We created you the first time — alone, barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised, with no wealth, no family, and no worldly power to protect you. Everything We gave you in life — your money, your palaces, your children, your authority — you have left it all behind, and it has not benefited you in the least. And today, We do not see with you the idols and false gods you worshipped and claimed would intercede for you and be your partners in divinity. All the bonds you relied upon have been cut off, and everything you falsely claimed has vanished and proven to be pure loss."
This verse is a powerful reminder that every human being will stand before Allah alone, stripped of all worldly illusions. The things we cling to — wealth, status, and even the false deities we invent — will abandon us at the very moment we need them most. Only our deeds and our sincere faith in Allah will accompany us.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on this profound scene. Imagine standing before your Lord, with nothing but your deeds. The idols of this world — whether they are money, fame, or false beliefs — will not speak for you, nor will they save you. But there is good news: Allah, in His infinite mercy, has opened the door of repentance for you right now, in this life. He calls you to return to Him, to worship Him alone, and to build a relationship with Him through sincere faith and righteous actions. Do not wait until the Day when all excuses fail and all false hopes are shattered. Come back to Allah today, and He will forgive you, guide you, and grant you a life of peace in this world and eternal bliss in the Hereafter. The Qur’an is not a book of fear alone — it is a book of hope, guiding you to the path of success. Embrace it, and you will never be alone.
