📖 English Meaning
Now, Allah has lightened [the hardship] for you, and He knows that among you is weakness. So if there are from you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you a thousand, they will overcome two thousand by permission of Allah. And Allah is with the steadfast.

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

(Khaffafa): Lightened or eased the obligation.
(Da'fan): Weakness — referring to physical frailty and human limitations.
(Sabirah): Patient, steadfast, enduring — those who remain firm in the face of hardship.
(Bi-idhni Allah): By Allah's permission, will, and divine support.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse marks a beautiful moment of divine mercy and compassion from Allah toward His believing servants. In the early days of Islam, particularly after the Battle of Badr, Allah had commanded the believers that one Muslim should stand firm against ten disbelievers in battle. This was a heavy burden, testing the limits of human endurance. But Allah, in His infinite wisdom and kindness, knew the reality of human nature — that believers, though strong in faith, carry physical weakness and limitations.

So Allah says: "Now Allah has lightened your burden, knowing that there is weakness in you." This is not a criticism of the believers; rather, it is an acknowledgment of their humanity and a demonstration of Allah's gentle care for His creation. He does not ask of us more than we can bear, and when He sees sincerity in our efforts, He eases our path.

The new ruling is clear and practical: if there are one hundred steadfast, patient believers, they shall overcome two hundred disbelievers. And if there are one thousand, they shall overcome two thousand — by Allah's permission. The ratio has shifted from 1:10 to 1:2, a tremendous relief that shows how Allah gradually builds strength in His servants, step by step, rather than overwhelming them all at once.

The verse concludes with a profound promise: "And Allah is with the patient." This is not merely a statement of proximity — it is a pledge of divine support, protection, and victory. When you are patient, Allah stands by your side. His angels assist you, His peace fills your heart, and His power works through your efforts.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear believer, see how your Lord knows you completely — your strengths and your weaknesses — and yet He does not abandon you. He adjusts His commands to fit your capacity while still elevating your rank through patience and perseverance. This is the beauty of Islam: it is a religion of balance, mercy, and gradual growth.

When you face challenges in life — whether in worship, work, or personal struggles — remember that Allah has already lightened your load according to what you can handle. He does not want hardship for you; He wants you to succeed. So stand firm, be patient, and trust that His help is near. A hundred patient hearts can move mountains, and a thousand steadfast souls can change the world — not by their own power, but by Allah's permission and support.

So take heart, O believer! Your Lord is with you when you are patient. He sees your struggle, knows your effort, and promises you victory. Hold on to patience, for it is the key that unlocks Allah's divine assistance.

📜 Verse 64-68 — Al-Anfal

O Prophet, sufficient for you is Allah and for whoever follows you of the believers.
O Prophet, urge the believers to battle. If there are among you twenty [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome a thousand of those who have disbelieved because they are a people who do not understand.
It is not for a prophet to have captives [of war] until he inflicts a massacre [upon Allah 's enemies] in the land. Some Muslims desire the commodities of this world, but Allah desires [for you] the Hereafter. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.
If not for a decree from Allah that preceded, you would have been touched for what you took by a great punishment.
