📖 English Meaning
O Prophet, urge the believers to battle. If there are among you twenty [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome a thousand of those who have disbelieved because they are a people who do not understand.

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

(Harrith): Urge, incite, and motivate with the strongest encouragement.
(Sabirun): Patient, steadfast, and enduring in the face of hardship — those who remain firm in battle and seek reward from Allah.
(La yafqahun): They do not comprehend or understand — lacking true insight into Allah’s promise of victory for His believers and the purpose of the struggle.

Explanation of the Verse:

O Prophet, Allah commands you to stir the hearts of the believers and ignite their courage for battle — not with harshness, but with words that awaken their faith, strengthen their resolve, and remind them of the eternal reward that awaits the patient and the steadfast. This is a call to action rooted in trust in Allah’s promise.

Allah then sets a remarkable standard of faith and courage: if there are among you twenty steadfast believers, they shall overcome two hundred of the enemy. And if there are a hundred of you, patient and firm, they shall overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve. This is not a mere numerical equation — it is a spiritual reality. The believer fights with certainty in Allah’s support, with a heart anchored in patience and a soul that seeks nothing but His pleasure. The disbelievers, by contrast, fight for worldly dominance, driven by arrogance and ignorance. They do not comprehend the divine law that victory comes from Allah, nor do they grasp the true purpose of their struggle — so their strength is hollow, and their resolve crumbles when faced with true faith.

This verse instills in the believer a profound sense of empowerment: you are never alone, and your strength is not measured by numbers or weapons, but by your connection to Allah and your patience in His cause. When you stand firm, Allah stands with you, and no force on earth can overcome the one whom Allah aids.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear believer, this verse is a treasure of hope and honor. It tells you that your faith multiplies your strength beyond human calculation. When you face challenges — whether in battle, in life’s struggles, or in standing for truth — remember that patience and trust in Allah turn your twenty into two hundred, and your hundred into a thousand. Do not look at your own weakness; look at the power of the One who strengthens you. Let this verse fill your heart with courage, and let it drive you to be among the patient ones who earn Allah’s victory in this world and His paradise in the next. Stand firm, for Allah’s promise is true, and His help is near.

📜 Verse 63-67 — Al-Anfal

And brought together their hearts. If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have brought their hearts together; but Allah brought them together. Indeed, He is Exalted in Might and Wise.
O Prophet, sufficient for you is Allah and for whoever follows you of the believers.
O Prophet, urge the believers to battle. If there are among you twenty [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome a thousand of those who have disbelieved because they are a people who do not understand.
Now, Allah has lightened [the hardship] for you, and He knows that among you is weakness. So if there are from you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you a thousand, they will overcome two thousand by permission of Allah. And Allah is with the steadfast.
It is not for a prophet to have captives [of war] until he inflicts a massacre [upon Allah 's enemies] in the land. Some Muslims desire the commodities of this world, but Allah desires [for you] the Hereafter. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.
