Explanation of the Verse:
This verse paints a magnificent portrait of the true believers—those who have earned the glad tidings of Paradise and Allah's good pleasure. These are the people whose hearts have turned away from everything displeasing to Allah and have returned to Him in sincere repentance, leaving behind sin and embracing obedience. They are the ones who worship Allah alone with complete devotion and sincerity, dedicating their lives to His service.
They are the ones who praise their Lord in every situation—whether in times of abundance or scarcity, in joy or in trial—recognizing that all that comes from Allah is good and carries wisdom. They fast, restraining their desires and purifying their souls, just as a traveler lightens his load for the journey ahead. They stand in prayer, bowing and prostrating before their Creator, humbling themselves in submission and drawing closer to Him through the most beloved of acts.
These believers do not keep their faith to themselves; rather, they actively call others to goodness, commanding what is right and forbidding what is wrong. They are the guardians of Allah's boundaries, careful not to overstep His commands nor fall into His prohibitions, standing firm upon His laws with vigilance and devotion.
The verse concludes with a glorious promise: "And give glad tidings to the believers." This is a direct address to the Prophet ﷺ, and through him to all who carry this message—that those who embody these noble qualities will receive the ultimate joy: Allah's pleasure and His eternal Paradise.
A Call to the Reader:
Dear believer, look at this beautiful description and ask yourself: Do you see these qualities reflected in your life? The door of repentance is always open, and the path to Allah is never closed. Every day is a new opportunity to turn back to Him, to increase in worship, to praise Him in all circumstances, to fast, to pray, to enjoin good and forbid evil, and to protect His limits.
These are not impossible ideals—they are the attainable qualities of those whom Allah Himself has promised success. And what a promise it is! Glad tidings that fill the heart with hope and the soul with tranquility. Strive to be among them, for the reward is beyond imagination, and the pleasure of Allah is the greatest prize of all.
