Tafsir (Explanation):
O you who have truly believed in Allah and His Messenger and who strive to implement His commandments in your lives! What is the matter with you that when you are called upon to march forth in the cause of Allah—whether to defend your faith, support your brothers, or confront the enemies of truth—you grow heavy, hesitate, and cling to the earth? You prefer the comfort of your homes, the ease of your routines, and the safety of your possessions over the call of your Lord.
Are you so satisfied with the fleeting pleasures of this worldly life that you would trade them for the everlasting bliss of the Hereafter? Reflect deeply: what is the value of this world’s enjoyment compared to what Allah has prepared for His believing servants who strive in His path? It is nothing but a trivial, passing moment—like a drop in an ocean, or a speck of dust against a mountain. The delights of this life are limited, temporary, and mixed with toil and sorrow, while the rewards of the Hereafter are infinite, pure, and eternal.
How could a wise person choose what is perishable over what is everlasting? How could a sensible heart prefer a fleeting illusion over a permanent reality? Allah is not asking you to abandon the world entirely, but He is reminding you of the proper scale: the Hereafter is the true life, and this world is merely a bridge to it. So when the call to good comes, respond with eagerness and sincerity, for the best investment is the one made for the eternal life to come. Let your hearts be attached to what Allah has promised—gardens beneath which rivers flow, and the pleasure of His divine acceptance—for that is the ultimate success.
