Tafsir (Explanation):
After the great flood had subsided and the ark came to rest, Allah addressed His noble prophet Nuh (Noah) peace be upon him with a command that carried immense honor and mercy: "O Nuh, descend from the ark." This was not merely an instruction to step onto dry land—it was a divine declaration of peace and safety. Allah said: "Descend with peace from Us"—meaning you are secure from all harm, protected from your enemies, and blessed with tranquility. This peace was not only for Nuh himself but also "and blessings upon you"—an abundance of goodness, prophethood, and divine favor that would continue through his lineage.
The blessings extended "and upon nations from those who are with you"—referring to the believing descendants of those who boarded the ark with him. These are the faithful communities that would emerge from his progeny, generation after generation, carrying the message of monotheism and righteousness. They would inherit the earth and establish worship of Allah alone.
However, Allah then revealed a profound truth about the diversity of human destiny: "And [there are] nations whom We will give enjoyment"—these are the disbelievers and the wretched among the descendants of those who were with Nuh. They will be given respite in this worldly life, enjoying its pleasures, wealth, and comforts for a time. But this enjoyment is temporary and deceptive. Allah continues: "Then there will touch them from Us a painful punishment"—in the Hereafter, they will face a severe and agonizing chastisement that they cannot escape.
This verse carries a powerful lesson for every believer. It reminds us that Allah's mercy is vast and His blessings are abundant for those who remain steadfast in faith. The peace granted to Nuh was not just physical safety but spiritual elevation—a reward for his patience through centuries of calling his people to Allah. At the same time, the verse warns that worldly enjoyment is never an indicator of divine pleasure. Many people are given wealth, health, and comfort in this life, yet their end is destruction because they rejected the truth.
Dear reader, reflect on this: the same ship carried both the believers and the seeds of future generations—some destined for eternal bliss and others for painful punishment. Your choices today determine which path you walk. Allah's door of mercy is open wide; He invites you to board the ark of faith, just as Nuh's followers did. The peace and blessings that Allah promised to the believers are still available to you today. Do not let the temporary enjoyment of this world deceive you, for the Hereafter is eternal. Seek the lasting peace that comes from submission to Allah, and you will find blessings that no worldly pleasure can match.
