Word Meanings:

  • Anbā' al-Ghayb (أَنبَاءِ الْغَيْبِ): News and stories of the unseen past that cannot be known through human effort or learning.
  • Nūḥīhā (نُوحِيهَا): We reveal it to you (O Prophet) through divine inspiration.
  • Al-ʿĀqibah (الْعَاقِبَةُ): The final outcome and ultimate result in this world and the Hereafter.
  • Al-Muttaqīn (الْمُتَّقِينَ): Those who are mindful of Allah, obey His commands, and avoid what He has forbidden.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, this story of Prophet Nūḥ (Noah) and his people — which has just been narrated to you — is from the news of the unseen world. It is not a tale you learned from any book or scholar, nor did your people know anything about it before this revelation came to you. This is clear proof that what you recite is not your own words, but a divine revelation from Allah, the Knower of all that is hidden and manifest.

You were an unlettered man living in a society that had no scripture or prophetic tradition. Neither you nor your people had any access to the histories of the ancient nations. Yet, Allah revealed to you these precise accounts with complete accuracy — a miracle in itself, testifying that this Qur'an is truly from Allah.

So, O Prophet, be patient — just as Prophet Nūḥ was patient for nine hundred and fifty years, calling his people to the truth with wisdom and perseverance, enduring their mockery and rejection without ever giving up. Your mission is the same, and your reward is with Allah.

Indeed, the beautiful final outcome — victory, success, and eternal bliss — belongs to the righteous who fear Allah and remain steadfast upon His path. They are the ones who will inherit the earth and be granted Paradise, while the disbelievers will face loss and regret.

A Da'wah Reflection for the Reader:

This verse carries a profound lesson for every believer: the path of truth is not always easy, but it is always victorious in the end. Just as Allah supported Nūḥ and the prophets before and after him, He will support those who remain patient and steadfast upon His religion. The trials you face today are temporary, but the reward of the Hereafter is everlasting. So hold firm to your faith, trust in Allah's promise, and know that the final victory is always for the righteous. Let this verse fill your heart with hope and determination — for the sun of success always rises after the darkness of patience.

📜 Verse 47-51 — Hud

[Noah] said, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from asking that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I will be among the losers."
It was said, "O Noah, disembark in security from Us and blessings upon you and upon nations [descending] from those with you. But other nations [of them] We will grant enjoyment; then there will touch them from Us a painful punishment."
That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muhammad]. You knew it not, neither you nor your people, before this. So be patient; indeed, the [best] outcome is for the righteous.
And to 'Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. You are not but inventors [of falsehood].
O my people, I do not ask you for it any reward. My reward is only from the one who created me. Then will you not reason?
