Translation — Tafsir
Meanings of Key Words:
- الذِّكْر (Adh-Dhikr): The Reminder — referring to the Qur'an, which serves as a reminder and admonition for all of humanity.
- لَحَافِظُونَ (La-hāfiẓūn): Surely, We are the Preservers — meaning We guard it from any corruption, alteration, addition, or loss.
Tafsir (Explanation):
In this majestic verse, Allah (Exalted be He) declares with absolute certainty and emphasis: "Indeed, it is We who sent down the Reminder, and indeed, We will surely be its Guardian." This is a direct response to those who denied the divine origin of the Qur'an and plotted against it. Allah affirms that He alone — with His infinite power and wisdom — revealed this glorious Book upon the heart of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as a mercy and guidance for all of creation. And just as He took it upon Himself to send it down, He also took it upon Himself to protect it completely. This divine protection means that the Qur'an is safeguarded from any addition, deletion, distortion, or corruption — not a single letter has been changed, nor will it ever be, until the end of time. Every word, every verse, and every chapter remains exactly as it was revealed, preserved in the hearts of millions of believers and in the written text, generation after generation.
This is a profound miracle and a sign of Allah's boundless love for His creation. He did not leave His final revelation to the protection of human beings alone, for they might have altered it as previous scriptures were altered. Rather, He guaranteed its preservation Himself, so that the ultimate truth would remain accessible to every soul seeking guidance until the Day of Judgment. This verse fills the believer's heart with tranquility and certainty: the Qur'an we recite today is the very same words that Allah spoke, and it will remain pure and untainted forever. It is a living testament to Allah's faithfulness to His promise, and an invitation for every human being to reflect upon this Book, trust in its message, and find in it the light that illuminates the path to eternal success. How fortunate are those who hold fast to this unchangeable divine revelation, for they hold onto a rope that will never break.
