Explanation of the Verse:
In this profound moment at the sacred valley of Tuwa, Allah addresses His Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) directly, saying: "And I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed."
This verse carries a magnificent honor and a great responsibility. Allah, the Almighty, declares that He has personally selected Musa for the noble task of prophethood and messengerhood. This is not a random choice, but a divine selection based on Allah's infinite wisdom and knowledge of Musa's qualities — his strength, his sincerity, and his deep concern for the oppressed.
The command "so listen" emphasizes the importance of attentiveness when divine revelation descends. It teaches us that when Allah speaks, the appropriate response is complete focus and reverence. The heart must be present, the mind must be clear, and the soul must be ready to receive and act upon what is being communicated.
This divine address to Musa carries timeless lessons for every believer. When Allah chooses you for a purpose, He also equips you with the guidance you need. The revelation that follows this verse contains the great message of Tawheed (the Oneness of Allah) and the mission to free people from the bondage of Pharaoh.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear believer, just as Allah chose Musa and honored him with direct communication, He has chosen you — not necessarily as a prophet, but as a servant who has been guided to Islam, the final and complete religion. Your very existence as a Muslim is a divine selection and a precious gift. When you stand in prayer and recite the Qur'an, you are receiving that same divine address. Listen with your heart, reflect deeply, and let the words of Allah transform your life.
The Qur'an is not merely words to be read; it is a living conversation between the Creator and His creation. When you open its pages, Allah is speaking to you. So listen attentively, respond with obedience, and let the revelation guide your steps in this world and illuminate your path to the Hereafter.
This is the honor of being chosen by Allah — a blessing that carries both privilege and responsibility. Embrace it with humility, cherish it with gratitude, and live it with devotion.
