📜

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • يَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ (they ask you to hasten): They demand that the punishment they have been warned about be brought upon them immediately, out of mockery and denial.
  • لَمُحِيطَةٌ (surely encompassing): Completely surrounding and enclosing them from every side, leaving no escape or way out.

Tafsir (Explanation):

The disbelievers, in their arrogance and mockery, challenge the Prophet (peace be upon him) by saying, "If what you promise is true, then bring the punishment upon us now!" They seek to hasten the torment, not out of faith, but out of ridicule and stubbornness. Yet, they fail to realize that the punishment they so casually demand is inevitable and will certainly reach them—whether in this worldly life or in the Hereafter.

What they do not comprehend is that Hellfire has already been prepared for them, and it surrounds them from all directions, like a fortress with no exit. It is not something distant that they can flee from; rather, it is closer to them than they imagine, encompassing their very existence. No matter where they turn or what they do, they cannot escape it, for Allah's decree is absolute and His justice is certain.

A Da'wah Reflection:

How strange is the state of those who mock the truth and call for punishment as a joke! If only they realized the gravity of what they ask for, they would instead weep and seek mercy. This verse is a powerful reminder for every believer to never take Allah's warnings lightly and to be grateful for the gift of faith, which saves us from such a fate. It also invites us to reflect on the mercy of Allah—He delays the punishment, giving His servants time to repent and return to Him. Let us not be like those who demand the fire, but rather be among those who fear it and strive to earn His Paradise. The door of repentance is open, and Allah's mercy is vast—so hasten to Him before the encompassing fire becomes your reality.

📜 Verse 52-56 — Al-'Ankabut

Say, "Sufficient is Allah between me and you as Witness. He knows what is in the heavens and earth. And they who have believed in falsehood and disbelieved in Allah - it is those who are the losers."
And they urge you to hasten the punishment. And if not for [the decree of] a specified term, punishment would have reached them. But it will surely come to them suddenly while they perceive not.
They urge you to hasten the punishment. And indeed, Hell will be encompassing of the disbelievers
On the Day the punishment will cover them from above them and from below their feet and it is said, "Taste [the result of] what you used to do."
O My servants who have believed, indeed My earth is spacious, so worship only Me.
