Explanation of the Verse:
On the Day of Resurrection, when the disbelievers — those who rejected Allah, His messengers, and the truth of the Hereafter — are brought forth and presented before the blazing Fire, they will be addressed with a stern, rebuking question: *"Is this not the truth?"* In other words: Is this punishment you now witness with your own eyes real, or is it falsehood as you used to claim in the worldly life? At that moment, all denial will vanish, and their tongues will confess the reality they once mocked. They will answer: *"Yes, by our Lord, it is indeed the truth."* But this confession will come too late — it will not save them, nor will it earn them any mercy. Then it will be said to them — by Allah or by the angels entrusted with punishment: *"Then taste the punishment because of what you used to disbelieve."* That is, taste the scorching torment and its agonies as a direct consequence of your persistent denial and rejection of the truth in the life of this world.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
This verse carries a profound lesson for every soul. Imagine standing before the Fire, with the reality of the Hereafter unfolding before your eyes — no room for doubt, no chance to argue, no opportunity to return and do good. The disbelievers will admit the truth with their own tongues, but admission alone will not avail them. How merciful is Allah, that He has sent us this warning in the Qur'an *before* that Day arrives! He has given us the chance to believe now, to turn back to Him in repentance, and to save ourselves from that painful end. Do not wait until you see the Fire with your own eyes to say, "Yes, it is the truth." Say it today, in the life of this world, with a sincere heart and righteous deeds. Embrace the truth of Islam, follow the guidance of the Qur'an, and let your faith be a shield against the Fire. Indeed, Allah's mercy is vast, and His door of repentance remains open — but only before the final hour comes. Seize this opportunity, for tomorrow may be too late.
